another li'l tip...
save up your purchaces so they arrive over a week time period....with anything really big (bumpers, wheels, motorcycle frames, engines etc etc..) to come in just before you go down. It ain't a huge place so the better you serve them, the better they serve you
Super huge stuff i'd call and check with them as to whether they can accomodate the item. They'll receive most stuff, but they aren't gonna help you load it..plan accordingly

Far as I know Ultima is all Chinese (you can tell by the chrome finish).
All i can figure is 'cuz it came through an American distributer/reseller it's taken as American made...but i'm okay with that

what is Ultima stuff?

country of manufacturing if the true test of whether duty applies...not country of sale/distribution. if the product is labelled made in USA, or made in Mexico, duty free...made in China but assembled in USA, could be dutiable (some goods are duty free based on the tariff classification i.e. some electronic devices are duty free even if they are made in China).

if a product is made in China, Germany, Uk etc, it will likely attract duty even if purchased in USA (unless it is duty exempt). this is what makes the courier stream seem more expensive to import (UPS/FED EX). the goods processed/imported through a courier are rated by a Customs rater (broker) not a Customs Officer, so they duty everything that is dutiable whereas the officer may not assess the duty (maybe only the taxes hst/gst depending on province of importation.

FWIW, duty isn't really the biggest fee you will see when using a courier to import goods, but the brokerage fee that the courier charges you for their Customs rater to process the entry on your behalf.

duty rates on auto parts and the like are usually 6-10 percent. duty on goods like clothing are in the 18-20 percent rate, and then foodstuff like cheese, dairy, chickens huge! along with alcohol and spirits.

Super huge stuff i'd call and check with them as to whether they can accomodate the item. They'll receive most stuff, but they aren't gonna help you load it..plan accordingly
Actually, they will help you. They have a forklift, and they ve loaded large items into my trailer or truck bed numerous times. I've even seen cars delivered there. I ve also shipped large items from cbi as well.

Good to know I haven't seen a lift truck there, but i guess that doesn't mean they don't have one. Heaviest thing i've ordered too was maybe 200# so was able to handle it myself. I was going by what their site says (or once said??) re: the loading of your own goods etc, but it's great to know they'll help a brutha out!!!

Maybe i'll order that stroker after all

**EDIT** me thinx you might have been referring strictly to CBI?? I deal solely with US Addy and my comments past and present were based on that scenario

Ultima is motorcycle parts primo..
i've gotten wheels, tranny, engine etc etc made by them from a US company. Re-looked over my bills (need for reg. tax purposes) and haven't paid a red one in duty, just the taxes.
And ya, that's why i gave up on "from there/to here". The extra add-ons from the big 3 as well as the proximity and ease of use with USaddy....add to that the mark-up on Can vs. made it pretty much a no brainer for me
