Default BDS or Zone 4" lift??

I thought my mind was set with BDS 4" lift (3" coils, fox shocks and bilsteins up front). While I was looking for a shop to do this install I found a shop asking if I purchased the BDS already and if not I should look at Zone lift. They said going with Zone would save around $600-$700 and they have had very good results with Zone lifts. Any thoughts or opinions between the 2 lifts would be appreciated. Also I noticed both companies say "not recommended on AWD models", does this mean I shouldn't use 4wd Auto setting or do most ignore this warning??

Thanks

I believe Zone is nearly identical to the BDS, so much so that maybe BDS even makes the Zone lifts? Someone will correct me if that's misinformation... In my research I've read that the Zone lift is very well built, however some parts on the BDS are a little beefier maybe... and I don't think the Zone lift comes with the exact same warranty as BDS...

As far as the AWD warning, I think that's generic and directed to full time AWD trucks.... nothing to do with AWD mode in our trucks...

In the end, I'd pay an extra $700 for a BDS lift... hell, I plan on paying a couple grand extra for the BDS coil over kit over a simple RCX lift so I'm probably not the greatest person for recommendations in that regard... haha

Yes, Zone is made by BDS. It's essentially a brand that BDS made to compete with Rough Country price wise. So it is slightly lower quality than the BDS kit. The choice of what one to go with really comes down to what you want to pay for what you're getting.

As Selcher said, don't worry about the AWD warning. It won't effect you.

I've been running auto 4WD since buying my truck, so I've been in that mode since the BDS lift as well. Runs like a charm

I am running the zone 6" in my truck.

I have no issues with quality. Keep in mind, most of the parts in a lift are just chunks of metal anyways. IMHO, as long as it fits as advertised, it's a good lift.

As for the new tie rod ends, I have no input on lifespan as it hasn't been installed very long. The new rear shocks could use an upgrade.

The dealer I bought mine from explained to me that the biggest difference that reflects the price between BDS and Zone, is that the BDS lifts come powder coated, and the Zone comes with paint/clear. Along with a few other things.

I too also have auto fwd, and don't have any issues. It's probably just a warning about drivetrain vibration., but I don't experience it myself.

I looked at both kits before I bought. Two things:

-I've been kicked in the junk far too many times trying to save a few bucks. I'll spend more these days if I think it'll save me the aggravation and money of constant replacement. That's not to say the Zone isn't a nice kit, but lets be honest, you get what you pay for. BDS makes Zone. BDS isn't putting into that Zone kit what they would one of their own.

-No BS warranty. It breaks - you get a new part...for as long as you own the truck. I keep vehicles a long time and I'm hoping to keep this one til the day I die. Sure I'll pay labor to have it replaced, but the fact that they stand behind their parts with essentially a no questions asked lifetime warranty gave me a little piece of mind to drop the extra cash.

I'm not trying to sway you either way. The Zone very well may be a great kit for you. The fact that I never heard anything but good about BDS and the reviews for the Zone were lukewarm, coupled with the above points made my decision for me.

I wouldn't worry about that AWD thing.
