Default Tips and Tricks

In another thread, GMCfourX4 suggested:

While you're in there, try enabling the Navigation Turn By Turn in Cluster (if you have Nav), which will show you the next turn and the distance to it in the EVIC even if the display isn't in NAV mode.

That is a good tip. It made me think - this is the first vehicle I have ever had that I feel the need to read the manual, front to rear. I am still discovering things that I missed in the manual. My wife commented yesterday that we will probably sell the truck in ten years, and still not be aware of all it can do.

So, what are some neat tips and tricks you have found with your RAM 1500? Let's start a running list. Please, don't flame people if the tip is described in the manual - I could read the thing ten times and still miss stuff.

2 other settings I like that aren't on by default:
Apps/Settings/Safety & Driving Assistance/Tilt Mirrors In Reverse
Apps/Settings/Safety & Driving Assistance/ParkView Camera Delay

Voice command to pull up weather forecast and movies. Also, add favorite artist to XM so that it alerts me when one of them is on another channel.

I couldn't agree more. We'll never know all the things this thing can do. I'm almost afraid to admit it, but it's probably obvious from all of my previous posts, I did read the thing front to back. That was after I ordered it and sat around for a few weeks just counting the minutes.

I like to set the door locks so that they all open on the first press. Not a huge security concern here in upstate...
There's also a setting that is off by default that will push your seat back when you're ready to get out.

This is a great idea for a thread!
Side note, Dave - just have to tell ya that I was up in the Old Forge area over the weekend. Disappointed in the lack of snow, especially after the dump that the Tug Hill got. But I used the truck to get into a camp that I've NEVER been able to drive to in January. Usually only snowshoes or snowmobile. I crawled up a very steep hill in 4Lo, and she never slipped, at all. It was icy, snowy, and a just a little of the ground showing here and there.
And I have to say, the Entry/Exit mode is GREAT for loading stuff in the bed.

Oh, that's cool about the seat going back to exit the vehicle.

Also, Apexcars, I didn't know you could call up the weather forecast. That's way cool.

Country Boy, we are having some weather, aren't we? First, almost record lows, followed by almost record highs a week later. I would just as soon it stay cold once the ground freezes - makes the barnyard easier to keep right. Now, we're in a mud bath. Glad you made it up to your camp. I'm pretty impressed by the traction in 4wd Auto, but it sure does slip and slide in 2wd until I shift it.

I got new WeatherTech floor mats today, just in time for the mud. My wife has not let me drive it to the barn because she didn't want manure on the carpet!

Use entry/exit mode to back into your trailer hitch... don't have to jack tongue up as high.

Use again when un-hooking.

I wasn't aware that on the cluster display I could add 2 gauges. I only thought there was the upper left/right and lower left/right. I was pretty geeked about that after finding it like 4 months in, lol.

I got the WeatherTech too - they're great! Getting the black interior with two yellow labs, however, was not my smartest move....

Your best bet is to go to the radio, hit the Controls soft key at the bottom, then hit the Settings button in the middle. Then just go through all the options. It might take 10 minutes to see all of it. I can't find any simple "tree" in any of the manuals, and that really surprises me. The manual makes all of this sound mythical, and you have to go on an Easter egg hunt to find anything. In the end, just walk through the options - press each one, set the ones you want, and then hit the back button at the top.

Those of you with 2014s, can you please press unlock once and then hold down the unlock key for 5 seconds and tell me if the front two windows roll down automatically like they do on my 2009? I'm just wondering if Ram kept this feature with the new fobs or not. Thanks!
