I use the inverter (an aftermarket model I personally installed) to power a Harbor Freight 3-gallon "hot dog" air compressor. I store the compressor/tank in my rambox along with 25' hose and air tools. I can air up tires, use a blowgun for short blasts and have air available for other small chores.
It took 6 months before I had a legitimate use for it, but paid for itself one cold morning when I had to get to work NOW...and front tire was flat with a nail. Aired it up, drove to work, and aired it up again at the end of work and drove to Discount Tire who repaired the tire. Much faster than changing a tire to get to work.

The power outlet is only rated for 150 Watts output. Good for a drop light, computer, phone charger.

Get a portable inverter 800-1200 watts to attach to your battery.

For those without this little 150 watt factory outlet.... a $20 cigar-lighter 115 volt inverter can be had from Wally Mart, Pep Boys, AutoZone, etc. which will do just as much. Just plug and play.
If you want serious 115 volt current you'll need to buy/install an aftermarket inverter to handle the need. Some jumper cables will supply sufficient gauge wire, just cut off the clamps. Be certain to use a correctly-sized fuse or circuit breaker and connect to the battery. Run a remote household type receptacle for the cab if you want.

It's design for light use, which it's perfect. Yes, you can add something more substantial, but that can be said for any feature- speakers, stereo, hp/tq, lighting, exhaust, suspension, etc. I don't think Ram intended for it to power a house...

Use it for my laptop for work. Although, I was eyeballing the rear lower portion of the center console as a possible future location for another more powerful outlet to charge cordless drills etc. Need to see what is under this console to add a 1000 watt unit I have. Hmmmm
