Default RBZ swap 2012

Just got my second ram this time a 2012 express. Got a lead on a RBZ model number P0506487AG radio with date code 0321. Not postive what it came from. I am planning to swap it for my stock factory radio and was wondering what issues I might have in doing so. Below are a few questions I had

- Can I connect a after market backup camera to it?
- Does it have audio out in the rear for a sub/amp setup
- What issue will I have with the swap being that I have a bare bones radio now
- Is it even worth it or should I just go after market ?

Thanks for the help in advance

I went from an RES to RBZ, and it was all plug and play, no issues at all. Only thing is I have a Chrysler logo on startup. And I am ordering myself a tailgate camera with a lockpick, and everything I have read says it will be all plug and play as well.

As for your other questions, I didnt want to mod for an aftermarket headunit, and no idea about adding a sub. Good luck!

I Purchased a truck with the RBZ head unit and the dealer was able to install a back up camera when I bought it. The truck also had the Alpine sound system which has the built in Subwoofer so I imagine you shouldnt have problems with yours.

I cant see you having problems installing it either. All these trucks have the exact same dash lay out, the only thing that is different would be the head units. I imagine they are all built to the same size and would just slide/bolt/screw/clip in and out. The only thing I could see being different would be a wiring harness. However I am a paint and body guy not a sound installer.

What I dont know is if your RBZ doesnt have Navigation if you can get the dealer to add it on after or not.

The only thing anyone would need to look out for is the bus speed.

Yes all the radios look and operate the same no matter what vehicle you are looking at but some use the low speed bus and others use the high speed bus.

Our trucks use the high speed bus.

Don't forget to upgrade to .50 software version to get rid of the old blue colored user interface. The black theme is so much nicer!

All of the instructions are in a Jeeps forum post but for some reason this forum won't let me post a link to that forum, it kills the link, guess they don't want the competition... Email me and I'd be happy to send along the link, w4rmk-at-yahoo-dot-com.
