Default Had some fun last weekend!

Had some fun at The Flats this past weekend, it was cold (40 degrees), nasty (pouring rain), and muddy (slick red clay) but we had a lot of fun! We hit the trails, they were very difficult with the greasy clay! (had to pull cable twice and had to have a buddy winch me sideways to get me off trees I slid into three times, at one point I slid sideways down the trail, at another I dang near slid off a 15 foot drop when the trail turned but my truck didn't want to! You could literally put you vehicle in park and put the e-brake on and still slide down the trail at some points, it was that slick! One of the times I had to pull cable, I fell on my face right after stepping out of the truck!) I don't have any trail pics but, I have some from playing in the mud pit!!!

A day of this fun:

Yielded this mess:

Which took eight hours to clean up to this state:

Just ignore the dents, they are from previous wheeling trips (some got ummm… "reinforced" on this trip though), it can be tough squeezing a Power Wagon onto trails that Wrangler owners say are "really tight and technical", LOL!

Looks like you had some fun for sure! That's a badass ride you've got there. Glad to see you're using it for what it was made for!

Looks like you had a blast! That dent must have bothered you when it happened! That is the only part about getting a new truck that will bother me when I get one this year. I've never purchased a new truck before so scratches and dents weren't a big concern.
There is a guy in my town that is selling a 2010 power wagon with about 20000 miles on it. He is asking $31000 . It has aftermarket rims and tires and seems to be well looked after. I can also get a new 2013 for about $47000 or wait till the 2014's come out. I have to wait for my tax return before deciding but at this point I am unsure of what to do as there are significant differences between the three options. Seems like most of the forum members think the 2013's have more going for them in regards to mods and he fact that they are tried and true.... Hmmm

Ronan, I agree with going others about the 2013. 2014 is the all new suspensions. 3 link in the front, 5 link in the back. From what others have said, if you want to lift it, it may be a while until they get one on the market. If you don't care to run stock, it's no big deal. I'm really excited to see one once they are out and see how they do. If you have the mod bug then a 2013 will be what you want to go with.

Trail Whale looks like fun. I love the 37s. I probably won't go that big, but I want to go 35s. Your truck is sick though. My first dent was on the rocker. It pissed me off at first b/c I don't have sliders. I am in the process of making some as we speak. But now I have forgotten about it. I think I'm going to line-x the rockers too.

It was a LOT of fun! I did about cry when I got my first dent, lol! (the driver's side dent) The dents on the passenger side about made me cry too, they happened a few months later BUT, they happened not ten minutes after someone was asking me about the driver's side dent and I said "well, at least I don't have any on the passenger side", LOL!!!

You need to shop around more! If I wouldn't have bought the extended warranty, my 2012 was gonna be $37,000 out the door! (on a $45,280 truck!) I personally would shy away from the 2010 since that was the first year of the new body style (I always shy away from first year trucks since they usually haven't had the bugs worked out) I would stay away from a 2014 for the same reason, too many new unproven changes!

Were I you, I would likely look at a 2013 Tradesman Power Wagon (yeah it's a new interior but, that's the only real change), it is the equivalent to my 2012. You can likely find one for about the same sticker as mine and get the same kind of discounting! (I bought my 2012 pretty much exactly a year ago!!!) Also, you should become a member of Tread Lightly! Not only is it a great organization that supports responsible land use but, members get 1% below invoice pricing on Jeep, Dodge, Ram, etc vehicles! (part of how I got mine so cheap, plus Ram was offering great rebates at the time too!) I have heard of people getting even better deals than I did! Biggest thing- shop around and don't be afraid to walk if the dealer doesn't come up with a price you like! I've had them call me back and offer lower price before. Another big thing at the dealer is- don't fall prey to them saying they are losing money on the deal, it's a crock! If you are getting rebates and manufacturer discounts, they are not effected by those so, they can still come down on price beyond that, don't let them BS you! A discounted new 2013 could cost you only like $6000 more than the used 2010, and you'll likely get a better interest rate on your loan since it's new instead of used!

Yeah, it's gonna be a while before the aftermarket support for the 2014 is equal to the support for the 2013 and older! Also, lift kits are going to be a LOT pricier for the 2014 even when they do come out!!!!

Thanks for the kind words! If I were you, I would definitely buy/make sliders pronto! Mine have saved my rockers (and the sides of my truck) more times than I can count!!!!! I have literally pivoted off rocks and trees on my sliders! I bet if I wheeled the same as I do now and didn't have sliders, I would likely have a door or two that were incapable of opening!!! Line-Xing the rockers is a good idea, especially if you have the black rockers, those seem to take a beating!!!
