Default 2014 Maps Updated on 430N Garmin for Free

This morning I updated the Garmin maps and junction points on my 430N for free following the instructions in the thread linked below. It took some trial and error with the real key to success being that I had to downgrade from .50 to .33 software before it would work. Once the new maps and junction files were installed I upgraded back to .50 and everything is working great. I went on a drive tonight and the high-res freeway off-ramp (junction) views are amazing! My maps version now says 2013 (previously it was 2011). Love the internet and geeks rule!!!

How did you download the map files? I have dowloaded the 33 and 50 software no problem (because I can just click a link and hit save), but I am really struggling with the map files. I followed links in the thread and ended up downloading 6 .rar files (that took hours). I have no idea what to do with them or if I even got the right files. Please tell me this sounds familiar and there is some quick trick to turn them into the necessary gmapsupp.img file. I think I have the jcv file i need to go with it. Thx - I had no idea i was so tech-stupid until I started reading this forum!

Just curious, but does anyone know of anything similar for the 730N RER?

A rar file is a different form of a zip file do win rar and it will extract the files for you.
