Yeah we usually pull it with her 01 5.9 6-spd with no problems at al but it's gonna be pulling the 5th wheel RV. I'm just not used to towing with gas motors. Shouldn't be a problem though this Hemi is stout vs Chevys 5.3

Yep so you have one, and can upgrade to the larger one if you want. Or monitor temps and see if it's necessary. (cooler trans temp gets worse mpg). 180ish F is optimum.

If I am reading that chart correctly for the trailer tow rating, his 1500 mega 4x4 only has a tow rating of 6350 lbs not 8100

How did you come up with the 8100lb vs 6300?

I'd have to agree with paulmega. The way I read the chart is, on a 1500 MegaCab 4x4 SLT with a 3.73, max trailer tow is 6350. And with the 2500 MegaCab 4x4 SLT, the max trailer tow is 8150. Good eye paulmega!

I looked again at the chart & i somehow had skipped right over the 1500 Mega Cab chart

Well it is not the first time that i made a mistake & likely won't be the last

Ahh I gotcha, makes since to scroll down (on my phone).
Only 6350 seems low, does it not? If my curb weight is 6500ish and my GCVW is 15000, wouldn't that leave me around 8650 for max trailer?

According to Edmunds review back in 2006 on the 06 Silverado 1500 with the 5.3, the max tow rating is 9100 lbs...? How's this work???

What I think your forgetting is that with your Ram, you have to consider the additional weight of a MegaCab plus that 35 gallon fuel tank, in which I know that 2006 Silverado does not. According to your trucks specs, your Gross Vehicle Weight Rating is 8510lbs. So truck plus passengers plus truck bed payload should not exceed that. Your Gross Combined Weight Rating is 14000lbs so; Your truck plus you and passengers, payload and your trailer should not exceed that number. Here's what I'm thinking; if it's just you in the truck and say you weigh in at 190 lbs. your trucks curb weight is 6482lbs. So if you add your trucks weight plus 190lbs, you get 6672lbs. Then take 14000 - 6672 and you have 7328lbs left. I think if it's just you in your MegaCab, towing the boat which weighs in at 6300lbs, and with you towing safely, should still be within your trucks capabilities. But that's just my thoughts on the specifications provided and I do not accept liability nor responsibility for any false data provided.
