Default Muffler vs Intake

Hello Everyone! I am looking to make a few initial bolt-on mods to my 2013 1500 limited. I am trying to decide on my between mufflers or an intake ( S&B, K&N, etc...) or a set of flowmaster mufflers.

Besides the sound what are the practical benefits of upgrading my mufflers?

Thank you so much!

I choose the mufflex delete......as for the intake drop in kn for now.....either SB intake with scoop or kn Blackhawk.

Exhaust first... Its just more fun. Neither will give you any major performance gains so you may as well get something that will put a big smile on your face when you push the "go fast pedal."

I agree with the exhaust first as well. But if you're looking for the most performance from your exhaust you'll want a straight through design like Magnaflow, not a chambered design like Flowmaster

im going to agree with gecko, I got the flowmaster 40 super and while its loud as hell....it will hurt your lowend torque (atleast that's what it felt like to me) and its just not good for performance. im looking to upgrade now

I agree with lincoln above and others
I just swapped out a flowmaster for magnaflow and my low end torque feels better now
flowmaster sounded great but as its a chambered muffler it creates a lot of resonance and louder sound which you will hear in the cab
the magnaflow mufflers are a streight through but absorb a lot more resonance and give a milder but i feel deeper sound
hope this helps
the basic rules to gain performance are to get the air/fuel mixture in through and out as quick and smooth as poss
doing intake and exhaust mods will all help to gain a few extra horses
but untill you do the real stuff like full performance exhaust systems and porting and polishing ie gas flowing and forced induction etc
you wont realy notice big power increases
anything you can do to help the engine breathe better will help tho
keith

after getting both a CAI and a full exhaust system, you might try looking into getting a ported throttle body. those three mods together should give you a good and noticeable increase without breaking the bank.

also look into a programmer if you don't have one. that alone is probably the best performance upgrade for the money.
