I test drove a V-6 and noticed that it did not have 4-auto. One of the reasons I went with the hemi. I was told it comes on the HP-70 8 speed but not the HP45 8 speed which comes with the V-6

I thought the same thing because that's how it was on 13 models. I have seen it on 2014 3.6 V6's on dealer lots on Bighorn and Outdoorsman trims.

That's strange. I did a Google search for "2014 Ram 1500 Big Horn 4x4 V6" and you are certainly correct. There are dealer website photos of the V6's in the Big Horn trim where some have the 4WD Auto setting and some don't. I looked at the window stickers on both variants, but I couldn't determine what the ordering differences were.

Here's an example of one truck that has the 4WD Auto with the 3.6L Pentastar.

Here's an example of one truck that doesn't have it.

I thought the "Auto 4WD" option or availability had to do with trim level.

I can't tell you which ones have it and which ones don't but I think they have 2 different transfer cases depending on what model/trim level you get.

One of the transfer cases offers it while the other does not.

I love 4x auto! It is so nice to engage it at the first sign of snow and ice...you don't have to worry about spinning out and fishtailing! The front wheels automatically grab as soon as the rear breaks loose!

I have been doing a lot of searching on this and I believe one of the previous posts is right. Its not an available option with the V6.

I know people have said that if you leave it in 4wd lock position it will bind up, I don't drive too far on dry pavement before switching back to 2wd. I use the 4wd on snow covered roads and just leave it there, the little bit of bare roads doesn't seem to bother it.

my 2010 sport hemi I had didn't have the 4wd auto either. And now that I think about it, it was never and issue for me. It would be a nice option to have though
