Default confused.. need peoples input

I have a black sport i am in the process of blacking out.. i am on the fence of buying a black ram emblem for my tailgate (like found on the black express package) and removing my chrome one. has anyone taken off there tailgate badge? is it 3m tape? will the new one i buy fit with no problems? i hear that there are three indentation holes when you do remove it. i just want to be sure i don't mess anything up when i exchange badges.

PS.. no i don't want to plast dip it!!

Pull it- Yes 3M tape and placement pins but it'll come off with a little persistence - If you've never de badged a vehicle look it up on youtube- there is a method to it that you can learn in a snap by watching.
They do make black chrome paint and you can paint it in place.
And yes- the new one will fit.

there would also be two holes where the posts from the badge would fit into the indentation. be very careful as if you break the clips or posts the badge will not fit snug and may or may not have the ability to move or wiggle, which will in time wear through the paint.

not sure why you wouldn't want to just plasti dip it?
no need to remove the badge, no need to purchase another one, no need to risk scratching your paint trying to remove the badge.

if the goal is to have a blacked out ram, you'd think the results would speak louder then the tedious process of trying to remove/replace a badge.

i did a solid few coats of plastidip over a year ago and it looks fantastic.

but never the less, your allowed to do what you want obviously, so just make sure to be careful. i would use masking tape and mask the truck around the badge to ensure no paint gets scuffed when trying to remove the old badge

good luck man, take some pix of the finished result!
thanks.

I removed front and back and bought black ones on ebay. $60 They came off very easy. Not a big fan of plasti dip
