Unhappy won't take fuel

Sorry, I can't locate a forum for this problem so this is as close as I can get,
My Dodge Ram 1500 2004 truck will not take gas. It cuts off the pump quickly. The repair person checked the vent hose and it seems to be ok but still won't work, Now he is trying to get a new charcoal filter and valve? but they are having problems finding one and he wants me to bring in the truck to get the casting number,,,, my question is: does this sound correct? I also heard from the dealer that it might be the tank,,, any help for me would be appreciated,,, this is going on and I need the truck!
Thank you

If i need a different forum,,, please let me know

Thank you, I'll show this to the mechanic. He seems to want to change the filter and valve without checking to see where the problem is...would take it back to the dealer but they are 100 miles away, and me with limited gas.
