Default Y pipe & MDS

I haven't been able to find the answer to this anywhere yet. So for those of you who have done the Y-pipe mod to fix the crimped stock one....

1) Does the Y-pipe help diminish any of that sorta "bubbling" noise MDS makes when it kicks in?
2) And when people say "it feels like it runs smoother now," what exactly does that mean?

Not planning on doing the Y-pipe mod yet but its going to happen eventually. For now, I'm just curious

It's hard to feel the smoothness until you actually do a Y pipe. You think everything feels fine now til you do it...when I did mine it seemed my acceleration felt more crsip and cleaner... and this won't change mds, it'll still sound like a boat

You can't turn off drone with a tuner. Drone is caused by the muffler and the way your exhaust is set up. If a tuner could turn off drone they would make even more money than they already do.

I have the T1000. I guess usemocorp30 meant turning off MDS entirely?

Heck, I'm not sure that is possible.
I haven't fooled with any settings outside of the canned tunes. It sucks being around gas stations that only use non-ethanol in 87 octane yet the higher octane has ethanol.

You can turn the mds off in the custom tune of the t 1000. It cuts the drone of the exhaust when on the highway and the motive kicks down to 4 cylinders.

Haha I think I know what you mean. Sucks it doesn't help with the MDS boat sound

That does get annoying but I guess I'll have to deal with it, cause I'm not planning on getting a tuner until I'm out of warranty. I know most people don't ever have any issues with them but knowing my usual luck I'll be "THAT GUY" something happens to...

I think no one has addressed why you get drone. It's not due to the muffler ,but due to the fact the RPM level of the engine drops below it's optimum range to gain MPG. Every engine has it's sweet spot.

to me it was piping...I would get drone when all i did was swap the muffler, before switching the muffler I decided to cut the piping off after muffler post axle (dumping exhaust)...all the drone disappeared after that. It has to do with exhaust frequency and with more piping, it reverbs more with more piping.. and/or with a bigger muffler, the more frequency can be absorbed into the packing...

I agree, I think its more or less the piping that causes it. It's not all that bad on mine but its definitely much more noticeable now that the stock muffler is out. I wonder if the Mufflex drone suppression pipe would diminish that MDS noise or if that only fixes drone from the muffler itself...
