Default Rain water leaking into interior

Hi there,

When it rains, water comes through driver and passenger (see attached picture) and headliners near the visors (though not that often).

Even when rain stops, when I drive, water continue to drip until there is not more water.

Lately, when there is water, my interior lights, dashes, radio get possessed. They would come on/off/on/off…even the beeping sound due to open doors. All these while I am driving.

This is 06 3500 Laramie with factory sunroof.

May I know how to take care of this demon?

Thanks for your help.

First thought would be a leaking sunroof. Second thought would be rear brake light - but I would think it would leak in the back instead (water, like electricity, takes the path of least resistance.)
So, I am going to say it's the sunroof. Take it to an autoglass place and see if they can inspect it.

My brake light leaked on my '06. The seal would get saturated and water would flow on top of the headliner and down the A and B pillar. Easy fix- applied caulking and problem solved. I'd start there first, and then move on to the sunroof... windshield seal... etc. You could also try the smoke test... but difficult to track unless you have a controlled environment. I had a Dakota years ago that leaked and I NEVER found the source.

Most likely is your sunroof drain tubes are plugged/broken. The headliner needs to dropped and you should be able to see the tubes running forward. You can pull them off and blow out any debris, or if they are broken/cracked then replace them.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. It was the drain lines. I used chopstick to push through the plastic plugs. Immediately water came out like water gun.
On the passenger side, I made mistake of pushing in too far. The hose came out from the plastic plug. That side took 20 minutes to take fix.
For the 1st time since the 2008, I don't have to park the truck inside when it is raining!
Now another issue. I will post on separate thread.
