Default Vararam

I've got a vararam I bought from a member here on the website just sitting in my room. I thought I had done all my research but after purchasing it I realized there was a few mad customers about dirt/debris getting in the intake along with water. What do you guys think I do some mild off-roading and occasional Mudding.

NO MUDDING!

Hearing you are even thinking about mudding, makes me suggest you sell the Vararam and get into something else.

Cheer,

Var

what sort of intake would you go with? i don't go mudding like every day but it is something that i encounter every once in a while. Then again thats just florida for you, lots of rain and lots of mud/clay.

I got the S&B intake, and has held up great with some offroading here and there with the mud. It is fully enclosed with a nice big reusable oil filter (had the dry before, but decided to change it up). What I liked most is that the S&B has duel ports, 1 to the factory air draw, and then a second the draws from behind the bumper. With this second port you can get an air scoop piece that is sort of like a Ram air and comes out right under the bumper and apparently works great. The intake also comes with a plug to block the second port, and takes like 30 seconds to put on. I have only used it once and I have not had any issues with water or debris getting sucked up in it.
The S&B is also amazing quality and looks very very good. Had a clear top to show off the beast filter, and also allows easy viewing to look in your airbox for mud/debris after a day of playing. The S&B filters are also some of the best filters out there.
I looked at open filter styles too, but decided against that, because I just feel that the intake would be sucking in the heat from the engine bay. I also chose against open because if offroading, the filter does have little protection from getting water and dirt on it.

Yea that's what I'm thinking about doing. I'll probably try and sell this one and get the s&b thanks for the input guys.

Aside from something like the S&B I would stay with the stock setup and maybe use a drop in filter. I think the thing to do is to have a setup that draws air from a reasonably protected area that still allows enough flow to work properly. It should have a provision to allow water to fall out the the air stream before getting into or past the filter.

So you do agree with the s&b? That's whT I've been looking at and other closed box systems.

I love my s&b. Amazing quality, I did notice a little more hop off the line. Also adds some nice sound to thr engine and got a little bit better mpg. Looks bad ass too.

I believe I'm sold as soon as I sell the vararam.
