Default Cummins Magnum?

I have a odd fascination of mutilating a beloved magnum (base model). Try and find one for pretty cheap, interior and exterior in good shape, preferably in midnight blue or black. Then to gut the drivetrain and replace it with a Cummins 5.9 with turbos hopefully, get the whole driveline from a diesel 2wd truck and put it on. I understand the depth and difficulty of this proposition, yet I am still intrigued. The idea of the torque and mileage, and not to mention the ability of blowing smoke and laying rubber in town just to baffle all the car guys. I even have the look pictured in my head

would have big ass loping cam
chipped of course
dual exhaust tips right in middle of bumper like Cherokee srt

but a little bigger of course...
completely debadged maybe with srt10 rims on her like this, it would also be this color, I would really prefer to make it a Cummins and have the reliability for a daily driver.

Awesome idea, I am just wondering how the front end would handle that weight. A cummins engine is a lot heavier then our gas engines, and especially the engine inside the magnums. I don't know exactly what would work for that.

I was considering an air ride suspension, something like what a marauder has on the ass end of it, that automatically adjusts height to level it out

Ya that could work for leveling it out, but there is still all the extra weight added onto the steering components, the wheel hubs and such. Also does the magnum run on the same Frame as the 300 and charger?. You might have to look into finding a way to strengthen that up, because they didn't come designed to handle a heavy Diesel. I do think this is an awesome idea, but it seems like it is going to one hell of an adventure to make everything work properly. With the electrical it will be a pain to make everything work and play together too. I will be following this though to see if you can pull er off somehow.

I'm sure it could be done. I saw a Mustang GT at a car show this summer with a built CTD. He had the exhaust come out in front of passenger door. It was a very professional job. When he left, he put on a nice smoke show, diesel and rubber. Get the Hotchkis sway bars and SRT8 rear Nivomats and struts. Custom front springs. The 6 speed manual might be the easiest to make work, probably will need some sheet metal work. Paramount has differentials to handle up to 1600 hp for the Magnum and carbon fiber driveshafts that will take the power also. I think you might need a roll cage to take out any body flex from all the torque. I'd go with a different exhaust, unless you want to butcher the spare tire well. The cool factor would be off the hook. You might want to upgrade the brakes. The bad thing, you'll still probably get owned by a built hemi. Some Magnums are running 9 sec's and around 150 mph with the hemi.

Yeah I know the Hemi would be faster but the possible mpg and torque diesel comes with, I just realized that Cummins has more than just the 5.9 and 6.7. Supposedly they now have a 5.0 v8 that is about to go into Nissan 1/2 ton I think and there is also a 4.2 v6 and 5.6 v8. I don't believe any of those are into production yet, not to mention will be very expensive. If I was to do it all of the pieces would have to come together and timed it perfectly, I have some stuff I have to go do in South Korea and Southeast Asia for a while so, I will come back from them with some good bank and sell my current truck, I would want to find a used diesel that has good motor and turbos still there, which isn't easy to find

This is what you need. It's here in DFW.

It won't let me paste the link. It's a 2005 White Magnum. Race car, roll bar already in it. No motor or trans.

Finally let me post a different link.

You're going to have to check out the height clearances. This is probably going to require crossmember/oil pan mods, transmission tunnel mods, twin turbos , and a new set of rear tires every 500 miles

yeah no joke, hopefully 305s on the rear should hook about 50% of the time, maybe not, who knows haha
it will definately have to be twin turbos though, that was practically implied
