Secondly I sold my stock cat-back after a few weeks on Kijiji for $150. I asked the guy at the shop to chop it off 4 inches before the stock muffler so the next guy will have something to attach to.

If $$$ are a concern you can always just get a muffler and have your local shop make you new tail pipes. (that's what I did since shipping to northern BC was insane.) If this is something you are considering the muffler that comes in the Magnaflow Kit is 5x11x22 and its part number is 12588.
As MangoTangoMofo said...you can go with the above muffler, however, it will have slightly more volume than the muffler from the catback kit as the muffler is overall smaller...
But I provided my email above.
I can set you up with either package.

Check out my Magnaflow Magnapack setup a few threads down f4om this one in the exhaudt section. Sounds alot deeper now that its broken and and is craxy aggressive in person but so quiet and tame when you want it to be.... but still has that aggressive idle also... its pretty weird to think all that is possible at the same time.... its legit tho!

Ordered the Magnaflow exhaust and Y-pipe. Big question now is do I leave the resonators on or remove them. Awesome price was offered by "Bully Performance, but was able to get Autoanything to price match a clearance special on the web for a little less money.

Y pipe would not go in without significant modifications to the pipes. Routing was not a drop in or even close. Has anyone else seen this?

Yowch!

Can you explain what went down. What remarks did your installer make, and what did he had to do to make it work.

I was thinking it would have been more of a bolt on affair...

Thanks,

Var

You're referring to the magnaflow Y pipe, right?
We have the same year truck and I was at the exhaust shop in the back with them as they did my y pipe and they had zero issues.
Actually took them all but 15mins to get it in.

What exactly is your shop doing?
This is certainly not a bolt in, rather a cut out of old and weld in new.
Some new piping (small amount) is require.

Let me try and find a picture of mine...

So you actually repositioned the Y-Pipe further back in the vehicle behind the crossmember? They were attempting to put it in the same location and there is no way it would fit in the package space.

You can see in the picture I provided there was no issues with fitment. Again, it was done in 10-15mins
So not sure

Var,

I did not end up putting it on during this visit as I was also under the same opinion as you, that is was basically a drop in. The shop I used did a great job installing the bolt on exhaust, but is a general auto service shop who also does exhausts. I will probably look for a shop that specializes in exhaust systems to do the Y-pipe install.
