Question Pulled the trigger on 2014 PW

I ordered a 2014 flame red two tone SLT PW last week, order verified D1, so I know it will make the production run. Question regarding capacities, why is the towing & payload capacity of a standard 2500 SLT w/ 6.4L, crew, 4x4, w/ 4.10 have a 3K+ payload & 15K+ towing capacity & the PW is at 2K & 10K respectively? Is it the suspension?

I believe the biggest part of it is the tires. The regular 2500's have "E" rated tires, the Power Wagon has "D" rated. Would think the ride may be a little better as well.

Did you keep the graphics or delete? Anxious to see one in person.

Thanks...makes sense, didn't even think about the tires. Yes I kept the graphics. I like them, some don't, my son (7 yrs) really liked it, so I got them for him. He says it looks like a transformer, it's only stickers, who cares really.

Should be a real eye catcher for sure! Hopefully the wait isn't too long.

I suspect it will be delivered here in Ohio sometime mid-July. The original Laramie 1500 I ordered from the Plymouth, MI plant took just shy of 6-wks from dealer order to delivery.

Yes, it is the suspension. A Power Wagon, even though it's still a 2500, is designed to flex more and do more of the off road activities the buyers want.
It's like why is the 5.7 hemi in the 1500 have more hp than in a 2500? The demands of the 2500 engine are different so it is engineered for the increased towing/payload.
The same can be said for the suspension and towing/payload. Can you still tow like a beast? Yes. But you need that bit of a softer suspension to get that awesome flex we want!

Copy all. I figured as much. Just was curious since on the surface both are coil /absorber set-ups (Bilstein vs shocks), & wondered what exactly contributed to the huge disparity in capacities.
