Default Electrical connection behind wheel well

Just found this connection while cleaning the salt off the truck. It is an electrical connection between the outer wall of the drivers side frame and front wheel well. Not sure how well this connection is going to hold up in this location and maybe I am concerned with something that may be of no concern but has anyone else found this and what are you thoughts about mud, water, and corrosive salt? I will post a pic

While my truck is not exposed to salt on a regular basis every winter it does see inclement weather.

It also is a 2009 and I have that same plug.

It has held up just fine after all of these years without issue.

I wondered the same thing when I put my mud flaps on and saw it. It was one of those " What the Hell were they thinking". I forgot about it....'til now.☺

Same as Arth, although my truck sees a lot of salt and winter weather and no problems with it corroding or anything like that. Whether or not having my truck oiled every year helps or not I don't know. I'm sure it will be fine though.

I guess I am paranoid with all the electronics on vehicles today. I love my truck best truck I have ever owned. I just don't get why such a connector was placed in such a unconventional spot but thanks for the input.
