Default Is Lifetime Warranty worth it?

So I was checking out the Mopar Owner Connect website and there is a link that takes you to a Mopar Insurance Program. I priced out a Maximum Lifetime Warranty that covers everything on the vehicle. The price was $3285.00 plus tax. I think that seems pretty reasonable, any thoughts on the program, past experience or current owners with the Lifetime coverage. Im considering purchasing, I own a new 2014 Laramie Longhorn and with all the electronic gizmos I'm sure down the road it will need some repairs service and I think long term this is a good idea...

With all extended warranties, I guess it depends on how long you plan to keep the truck... and whether it's transferable if you decide to sell it to increase its value. $3,300 is way too much IMO, and 1/10-1/11 the cost of the truck when considering that you already have 3/36, and whatever "limited" powertrain warranty that you have... 5/100,000, or lifetime like the one the dealership offered to me, providing that I have it serviced there... Typical the cost of extended warranties are negotiable, if not, then I'd save that 3 grand for something else... like maybe the 2017 Ram

I'm glad I didn't buy one for either of my Dodges. RT Magnum has almost 300,000 miles and still no problems, Ram has 195,000 and still trouble free. Save that money for stuff that actually will wear out= tires

You will always get some people who will say they have had their vehicle X number of miles with no problems but what is the piece of mind worth to you? I have personally purchased the lifetime warranty on my current truck and my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I love it and don't have to worry about shelling out more than $100 deductible should something happen. I will also be buying the warranty on my new 2014 Longhorn I have on order and my dealer has already agreed in writing to match the price of $2185 described below.

Go to chryslerfactoryplans.com and you can get the warranty for $2185 ($100 deductible). You can either buy on that site or get your dealer to price match. The site is run by an actual dealership and it's the same Chrysler backed Lifetime Maxcare Warranty.

I bought a Limited 2 weeks ago and got the lifetime warrantee. With all the electronics, new 8-speed transmission and air suspension I felt it was a no-brainier.

Yeah, buy it through Chrysler either online or the dealer around $2200,
http://www.chryslerwarrantys.com/maximum_care.cfm With all the modules and electronics, if you plan to keep it, like any other insurance, you feel like it's a waste until something happens. Besides with the loaner cars and covering almost every part on the truck, and hauling you to a dealer instead of the closest garage which could be a flea market with a carport, you'll come out ahead.

Usually when you buy a new vehicle, included in the final price, there are several warranties
Factory Warranties are the 3 year/36000 miles warranty, smog warranty, rust warranty, paint warranty

Then there is the Extended Warranty, it also comes from Chrysler, but it is like an insurance policy & they usually come with a time & mileage limit
They are different extended warranties,
Extended ADDED Care warranty & MAXIMUM Care warranty
these warranties can be Extended at a later time
They can also be UPGRADED, as long as it is done before the 3 year/36,000 Factory Warranty expires

say you bought your Ram & it had the Added Care 5 year Extended Warranty, at any time before your vehicles Factory Warranty expires, you can go into the Finance Office & tell them that you want to upgrade your Extended Warranty.

What they do is first buy back your current Extended Warranty, they call it PRO RATING
The Pro Rated amount is then applied to your new Extended Warranty, even if you decide to get the Maximum Care Lifetime Extended Warranty.

The scenario that i just gave was what i did, & then i was given the choice of paying the difference in payments or all at once. The amount that i paid to make up the difference was $1,100 to upgrade plans

The Finance person that i had never answered my direct questions, it was like he thought everyone should understand what was going on, because he does it just about every day & it is 2nd nature to him.
My writing hand was wore out by all the signatures

more on Extended Warranties
http://www.dodge.com/en/service_contracts/

PS: check the price online before going into the Finance office, these prices can be negotiated a bit

JUst curious but a question for all youse guys who think it will pay off to have a "lifetime warranty"?

Why do you think the dealers are lining up to get your money on that deal?

Are those dealers stupid?

I believe it is good insurance & my plan is through Mopar, not a dealership
i drive an average of 20,000 miles a year & sooner or later a differential, transmission, or engine is going to have some issue that i won't be able to afford
