It's like insurance, sucks paying for it until you need it!!! I bought it for my truck.

If its transferable you can sell it for more. But they can always somehow find a way to weasel out of it after a while.

Because Chrysler is betting you'll sell your truck or trade it in before the Lifetime warranty is really used. It is NOT transferable EXCEPT one time for Florida and North Carolina residents for a $50-$60 transfer fee.

All of the Chrysler warranties are transferable EXCEPT the Lifetime plans. They are NOT transferable EXCEPT in NC and Florida (one time for a $50-$60 fee).

They can't "weasel" out of it. The Lifetime Maxcare is an EXCLUSIONARY warranty meaning it's essentially bumper-to-bumper. If the small parts list does not EXCLUDE the part that fails, then it's covered period. The only things not covered are wear and tear items like brake pads, light bulbs, trim (upholstery, rubber seals, etc.). At the point where the cost of the repair EXCEEDS the NADA Retail price of the vehicle, you will be given the NADA retail value and the warranty will be cancelled.

Ok. Substitute Mopar for dealer.

Are the people that run Mopar stupid?

They LOVE selling those policies. Why?

Not sure but I would assume it's a State Law thing for those two with regards to warranties.

The same reasons all extended warranties are so loved by their sellers. They get your money now to use to make money through other endeavors like financing.

They know not everyone who buys it will use it, and the ones that don't pay for the ones that do. Saying "lifetime" sounds way better than adding 4 years to provide 7 years coverage, but their cost to cover the number of vehicles not sold or written off and needing repairs is likely not that much more.

In the window between when items are not covered by original warranty and the vehicle is depreciated or sold the use of deductibles, splitting of related repairs, and exclusions such as failures related to wear items reduce their financial risk.

There costs are also reduced by factors like reduced labour and parts rates.

Thanks for all the input. So at this point I think I need to do a little more homework. I have looked at the other links provided and it seems that there are two warranty providers available, the one through Chryslerwarranties.com and the one off of the actual Mopar Owner Connect site. My biggest concern is what is considered "Lifetime" for the vehicle, IMO I would think as long as I am the owner, and that being the case if its 15 years old and needs a new transmission then I would be covered. However I have yet to read anything like that...

The cheapest site to order from or have your dealer match is chryslerfactoryplans.com

Here is the language DIRECTLY from my Chrysler Lifetime Maxcare Warranty Contract regarding when it ends. It is the lifetime of the OWNER. If you sell your vehicle or die, the warranty ends (you can transfer one time if you are a resident of NC or FL for a one time fee of $50-$60). It will also end once the covered repair cost EXCEEDS the NADA Retail value of your vehicle (should take a loooooooong time to happen).

"IMPORTANT! The maximum reimbursable amount should a covered component fail will be THE TOTAL COST OF THE REPAIRS, PER VISIT, LESS THE DEDUCTIBLE, OR THE CASH VALUE OF THE VEHICLE WHICHEVER IS LESS! The cash value of the vehicle will be determined by the average retail value as listed in the current NADA Used Car Pricing Guide. In situations where the repairs costs exceed the cash value of the vehicle, the remainder of the Plan coverage will be cancelled."
