Default Reverse Camera Help

I recently purchased a 2010 ram 1500 big horn and it has the touchscreen/uconnect that the laramie usually comes with but has no navigation or backup cameral. Is there a backup camera that connects to that particualr screen so i dont have to install an aftermarket screen or a a rear view mirror one.

Thanks

I just added the OEM Backup camera to my truck. You can install the camera and run the wirring, but you have to take it to the dealership for wire splicing in engine compartment and computer flash to activate. It cost me another $80 for that. Im not too impressed with the quality of the OEM unit. It does the purpose it intended, but i thought the video quality would have been better. The camera kit was $252, but you can get an aftermarket camera to install with dealer flash or pick up a lock pick so you dont have to flash the computer. Either way it costs you one way or the other. Hope this helps. Also do a search on the forum, there a lot of threads on this subject.

im considering buying good aftermarket kit with 2 cameras, using magnetic mounts & trailer plug to power up. that way I can just use when needed, like hooking up a trailer..

Back up cam

Mygig harnes, no wire slicing but the dealership will have to flash you system to activate the camera function

MyGIG FIM V.5 Lockpick, no splicing and you don't need the dealer to flash it! Also lets you turn the camera on while your driving. With the lockpic you can use any backup camera that uses rca plugs.

I've been reading a lot on the backup camera systems but still unsure which head unit you need. Are there different Mopar ones to choose from? Also having trouble finding a chrome handle with the camera. Any help is appreciated!

Any touch screen Mygig (high speed canbus) radio is good and will display the camera. They are all plug and play.

If you do install a camera you will have to have the PCM flashed at the dealer for the camera to work. If you get a Lockpick or similar unit all you will need to do is hook up to the radio for it to work, no dealer flash. The Lockpick will also give you four options for more cameras, unlock your Uconnect if you have the module for it and many other functions.

Most chrome handles I have seen come separate and you install everything to it from the other handle.

I have a Kenwood DVD system in my truck Best Buy told me they could install a backup camera and they didn't say anything about having a flash is the flash only for the factory systems

After market units do not need a flash.

The Mygig units are a conspiracy by the factory and dealer to make extra money for flashy parties and a higher year end bonus.

I added the factory camera/tailgate latch and a lockpick. No need to go to the dealer. Install was pretty easy.
