Esso for 4 reasons:
1. speedpass, point, fill-up, leave
2. i use the points for the car washes, I have about 9000 right now. Touchless car washes come handy in the winter
3. Over the years, my cars ran better with their gas, maybe it's only in my mind.
4. There is always an esso station very close to my place

Its usually eithor Costco or pioneer if I need to. When running 91 tune in the summer i only use Costco, petro canada or esso. Pioneer just for 87 and because it's 20 seconds from my house.

Indian reserve for the 15c per litre compared to town. They have 4 pumps going steady and you move your vehicle before paying. There is quite often a dozen cars in line to get in next. I usually take 4 jerry cans so to really make it worth while. I have 2 vehicles and my son has one and we use the jerry's to fill up between trips to the reserve. Been doing this for 4-5 years.

Hmm... Didn't think of using Esso points for car washes...
I've often thought of looking for a reserve around... But I have a feeling it may be too far out of my way to bother.

Earlier stating that I buy my gas in the U.S.A. it has finally happened after 15 years, I had to pay Excise and G.S.T. on some of my gas.

Not really a big deal, 4 jerry cans, 18 gallons (US), 68 L (CDN). The guys at Ogdensburg were definitely not busy, I was one of two vehicles to pass back into Canada in a 15 minute span. Note - they only charged for the gas coming in containers, not for the vehicle itself.

Originally, with the exchange rate for yesterday I paid $0.98/L compared to Welland at $134.00/L. Total adjusted cost of fuel was $69.00 (CDN) before taxes, Excise was approx. 12.5% - $8.00 and change and G.S.T. was $10.00 roughly, total was $18.00, which brought my cost up to 1.19/L. Still not too bad.

When I go home next week my fuel will be costing me approx. $2.91/Gal, with my bonus points, etc. - which is $0.85/L adjusted to today's exchange rate that I pay, not the central banks rate.

After 15 years it was a small price to pay.

I wish there was a reserve a bit closer to me, I'd be going there (fiancee has a Native status card, love the savings!)

There are reserves within a few hours drive, but its not worth it..

Man, I wonder if I'm the only one that cares about the quality of the fuel going into my truck. I'll only run Shell or Petro in mine, and now that my normal Petro has upgraded to their 94 I'm even happier. The only shells with 94 are a 20min drive out of town from home, the Petro is literally next door. If I'm on the road I'll also swing into an ESSO since they have similar strict requirements on their fuel. I won't buy Husky or put any of the other fuel into my truck unless it's a dire emergency, mainly because I've almost been killed twice on Husky work sites and the other chains are lower quality stock.

I use the ones I've stated because they have refineries in the province and take the top grade fuel for their chain distributors and the lower quality stuff that passes the grading is shipped to different storage tanks and sold off. I know this because I've worked at all 3 refineries.

I have often wondered if different stations had different "levels" of quality. Here in NS, every station charges the same, so you can't tell by price.
Maybe I should start going to Shell or Petro more often. I've been using Esso and Irving due to SuperStore and Sobeys Fuel Rewards when they have them.
