Default How do you keep a black truck looking nice

Ok, this is my first all black vehicle (quadcab ram), and it seems like no matter how hard I try I can only make it look nice for a day or at the most two. My other trucks (one was red, one was white, last one was dark blue ) would stay looking nice for a week or two after washing and or waxing. It seems like black is a dust/dirt magnet. Are there any secrets to dealing with black versus other colors. Special anti-static waxes ect.. Any help is appreciated ........................Dan

Been there, brother! Years ago my black Dakota was VERY sharp when it was clean. Now I own a Ram in black and varying shades of red (mostly red). It's not as difficult to keep looking clean, but I will be watching this thread for responses as well.

Hi Dan 15808,

Build a BIG glass box, drive in lock the door. Had some black vehicles including a bike or two and they are always dusty or dirty. Just the nature of the beast. BUT in exchange when you have a black vehicle with a lot of chrome and it is all cleaned up it just looks awesome!

Have a great day, and enjoy

Keeping my black 2013 R/T clean is not easy. My first black truck was a 99 Lightning, and i said i would never go back, then ended up with a black 03 s10 Xtreme and a 04 C5 Vette.

All my vehicles were black before this one and I can honestly say the only way to keep it clean is to shrink wrap it. But keeping a California duster handy and knowing how to use it properly goes a long way to cutting down dust build up.

I've owned over 50 black cars or trucks and from my experience, the only way to keep a black truck looking nice is to get it wrapped silver or white!

But in all honesty, don't go through drive through car washes, always rinse off the truck before you touch it with a wash mitt, if you insist on using spry washes always wash out the brush before you use on your truck, it will minimize the scratches anyways, last but not least never use a microfibre cloth twice on your paint! I always do a wax with three or four of them nd then they get washed and become rags and new ones are used for the next wash!

Wax your truck everytime you wash it, it will help keep it clean a bit longer. Also, get a California car duster, it helps lift that layer of dirt/dust that black paint loves to attract. Good luck keepin her clean!

Don't use a snow brush, use touchless car wash only, use two pail system when hand washing. Follow up with semi annual polish and wax. It's a lot of work to keep it looking new.

Park it in an airtight sealed environment, admire how beautiful it looks, then go jump in a 95 rusted out beater civic to go where ever needed. The truck always stays clean. Black vehicles look amazing, but so hard to maintain a clean look.
