ok not to discourage anyone it does not work that said i am working on a way to make it work and it looks promising but will involve more parts getting ordered still will keep people well under what a big brake kit will normally cost

i will keep everyone updated on what i find

trying to get this under 1300 bucks and if it works that will be a steal

basically the factory spindle cannot be modified for obvious reasons its aluminum and just wouldnt be safe to modify. i am thinking the drop spindles from mcgaughys have a flat surface running in to the hub so with proper machine work the holes for factory hubs will be filled and new holes drilled . I know that mod wont be for some people but i am very optimistic also i have access to a good machine shop so everything will be done correctly.

Most aftermarket kits just provide a mounting bracket for the new caliper. I don't see why you would need to modify the spindle. The bracket will have enough room for two sets of mounting holes since you are usually mounting a larger rotor so the holes are far enough apart. The thickness of the spacer is what give you your caliper mounting location left to right and lines the caliper up on the rotor.

I hope that makes sense.

The issue is not really getting it to fit on the spindle, it is wheel clearance and the actual function of the caliper, (how piston size and pressure affect actual braking performance) on the vehicle.

the caliper mount in the location of factory caliper mounts put 2-3inches away from the rotor so the mounting holes need to be moved inbound closer to the hub given the shape of the factory spindle and its aluminum construction i do not trust it to drill out nor would that even be possible with how it is shaped the drop spindles have a flatter surface and are a stronger material so i wouldnt be worried about planing it and drilling new holes.
stay tuned

Ok, I know this is a shameless sales plug, but I am selling my slightly used (5000 miles) SSBC tri-power kit, matching rotors, and powdercoated oem rear calipers for $1000. I know it might be too late, but it's there if you get fed up with modding the modded modifications to make things fit.

I would have never guess the GCSRT8 had 15" brake rotors. They look so small in pics..

Here's a good pic and info about the GCSRT8 Suspension/Brakes
http://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/t...alkaround.html

Any updates on this by the way? Now with my 22s the truck stops fine but brakes look so tiny? I was about to paint them but if this upgrade is possible, might go that route.

Can you get some pictures? Which direction is the 2-3" ? I haven't looked at the stock brakes to see how they are mounted, but 2 piece rotors are easy to source and can bring the caliper in or out to line up closer to the factory mounting location.
