I had a y pipe built and a flowmaster 40 installed. Sounded good. It wasnt deep enough though. A year later I had them cut resonators out and weld on 5" x 12" tips. Sounds way better. The tips definitely make the sound deeper. I get compliments all the time and I live in an area where everybody and their mom has some sort of exhaust work done on their vehicles.

my vote would be for Spintech or Magnaflow. Both have great sound & performance. Flowmasters, not so much on either.

Everybody likes what they like but in my opinion, flowmasters sound and work better on an engine with 500+HP. I had 2 3" original 40 series on an old Big Block Nova and the sounded awesome! The car ran better with them than with just the open headers. I'd go with a Borla or a Magnaflow.

I have the Super 44 and love it. Stock piping, Ive been thinking on deleting the res and changing tips too tho. I probably wont go over 4" tho as Id like a close to stock look sitting in the cutouts.

Thanks for all the input fellas - I spoke with an exhaust shop the other day and asked if adding wider / longer tips would affect the sound (and deepen it) and he said it wouldn't change the sound... I'm not sure if I believe that - Soooo... on that note, I think I'm still going to try and throw some 4"x12" or 5"x12" tips on there and see what happens... hopefully I won't be wasting my money!

Check out the cherry bomb extreme, its loud and with a deep sound... check it on youtube. The vid with the black regular cab is the best one

Ive had mine on for over a year now and im still happy, ive thought about removing the reso's but havent decided yet!

You know what's funny - I originally wanted a Cherry Bomb extreme on there initially because of that video but my exhaust shop only had the 10 series... I did a little more research and found out that they are almost exactly the same - or at least that's what people were saying... so I went with it because I'm not a patient person. It's loud, don't get me wrong.. and apparently louder than I think it is from what other people say - but it's just not deep enough sounding... that's really what I'm shooting for...same amount of volume, just deeper.

PS - I wouldn't remove the resos in hindsight because of the MDS - if it switches on, it sounds like absolute garbage. If you disable it with the autostick or programmer, then I would take them off.
