Default Reverse Signal Wire in Cab

Im having a few issues installing a reverse camera correctly. Ive got it "working" by using the white and light green wire at the reverse light to power the camera, AND in the cab that same color wire to signal the headunit to display....BUT my camera doesnt work if my lights are on AND the headunit constanly tries to display the camera.

I have read that I should use a Violet/Black in the cab as the signal wire for the headunit, and possibly run the camera on a 12v switched wire.

Where is the violet/black wire located in the cab?

Which wire in the harness rear of the vehicle would be 12v switched?

Any help would be great, thanks!

Well this question didnt get much attention.

I figured that the gorund on the rear for the camera was tied in to running lights.

All is well now thanks.

I used the WHITE/GREEN wire for both signal and power....I tapped the signal for the head unit on the driver side by the firewall/parking brake, and since its 12v I also tapped it at the trailer harness (same W/G) to power the camera. The headunit should have a setting for the signal to be ground or 12v and select 12v.

Only downside to mine is the camera will not be powered UNLESS you are in reverse....so no blowing smoke on honda civics and watching
