Default Tweeters in the Sail panel, door, or dash?

Hello, I have a 2013 CC Big Horn. I've finally gotten the subs figured out and dialed in. Been sitting on a set of PHD 6.1 FB Pro comps for almost a year now. Finally got the amp and wires set up. I'm ready to do the install, but I wanted to ask my Z brothers, where did you put your tweeters and do you have any pics?

I'm thinking the sail panel, but depth might be an issue there. I've seen some folks cut the door above the door speaker and do a flush mount there, looks cool, but what's the sound like? Then finally, I could take out the 3.5" in the dash and do an adapter, install the tweets in the dash board keep the factory look. Again not sure about sound quality, I know i'll have to listen and test them myself, but before I go cutting or laying wires, I'd like to see what anyone else has done.

Sorry no pics at this time cause Iam at work, but I have done dash and sail in the past.
I ran dyn md102's in the dash slightly angled inward and they sounded really good. That location gets a lot of flack from some audiophiles due to reflections off the glass and dash, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome, & I was going for stealth in the beginning. Stage was high (very high) and pretty darn wide even though they where angles inward. Tuning was a bit tricky with all the reflections, but it worked decent. Stage was very very deep too which I loved! The Dyn md102's do very well off-axis though....I do not know much about the PHD tweeters and their off/on-axis freq response.
Recently I moved the md102's to the sail and angled them towards me for a on-axis position and it made a pretty big difference in tonality, width, and seemed a bit more detailed (probably because zero reflections). The depth suffered, and the stage height suffered a little too, but not a deal breaker. The two locations sound completely different (not better or worse....just very different) you will like one over the other i am sure. I have heard tweeters firing straight across the cabin on the upper door panels....looking at each other so to speak...I did not like their tone (Scan Speak Illuminators I believe) awesome tweeter, but that location did not let those awesome tweeters shine. All tweeters behave differently so the end all result will have to come by you trying out the different locations using tape or sticky clay. Listen to a lot of music and try to run each location for a few days before deciding...especially before drilling holes in your sails. I do not know what kind of dsp you have (if you have any??) but dsp can take the edge off any (less to be desired location)
Not an end all answer, but hope this helps!

And yes, some trimming was needed, and the factory dash grills fit nicely over the top of them....you'd never know they were there

Thanks for the pics and your thoughts. I'm thinking I'll have to go the same route trying out the locations before cutting. I'm not using any DSP or active. I'm going passive for now. Kind of building one piece at a time. But great thoughts and appreciated. Anyone do the door right above the speaker, kind of like a kick panel?

Buy the best 3.5" coaxials & be done. People don't understand how lucky they are to have a midrange & tweeter on the dash. Sound stage up & in your face down to 150hrtz.

I already have the comps. I'm looking at getting 3.5's, but I still want to install my 6.5's.

You can still use your comps midrange in the doors. But I don't think it'll be necessary to use the tweeters with a set already in the 3.5's. I did a jl audio zr650 comp setup in a similar set up. With the tweeters replacing the 3.5s & mahn did it sound terrible... The sound stage was at my feet & nothing but sttt stttss sstts in my face! I immediately started looking into 3.5 coaxials. I'm running active though with the 6.5s bandpassed
Play around with it though put the tweeters on some long speaker wire with tape & experiment.

What are you using for active? You have a cleansweep, audison bit one, a 360? Something by audiocontrol? I considered active, just not sure I want to invest the money, since I'm going to stick with the stock 8.4 Uconnect.

I'm using a rockford fosgate 3sixty.3. Very good processor. Do you have a thread for your sub setup?
