Talking Turbo from Old Cummins put into 1500.

Would it be possible to pull the turbo from a 5.9L Cummins and put it into a 1996 1500 5.9L Magnum? Could the pipes be fabbed up and all? Would it rip the transmission off and shred the axles?

Haha it was a joke, The turbo "could" work, anything can work with enough time, money and knowledge. the manifolds would have to be custom built and there would need to be custom tuning, custom oil lines, fuel system would need to be upgraded to deliver more fuel. I would assume the trans would need to be beefed up or swapped, driveshaft and rear end upgraded or swapped. with all that trouble be better to just swap a full cummins and trans and rear.

Oh, if only:

Anyway, seems like that Cummins turbo would be set up all wrong for a gas 360. It's set up to generate a given amount of boost at a very low rpm compared to the gas engine. Yes, it can be tweaked, but it wouldn't appear to be a good starting point.

On the show road kill they used a 7.3 turbo on a Chevy 4.3 in a Datsun, so anything is possible. It would work, but it wouldn't run well; it'd spool up late, hit hard, and would LEAN waaaayyyy out when it finally did hit boost.

It could be a good starting point though, a diesel pumps a lot more air, but the Magnum also revs a lot higher too, so it could balance out. The big thing would be getting the fuel map right...

One off a Jetta would be a better idea, if the engine is stock.
IMO

It's basically stock. Just a CAI and better exhaust.
