Default Time to upgrade the Audio in the Ram

I have been debating to upgrade with factory equipment or aftermarket, it pretty much came down to price. It was a lot cheaper to go with aftermarket equipment!

Clarion NX404 head unit
BOYO IR backup camera
4 Memphis 6x9's
I tried buying a pair of 3 1/6's but they are hard to find, I'll have to order them

I installed the speakers, mounted the camera, and ran the cable for the camera up to the dash this afternoon. I'll get the head unit installed tomorrow.

I didn't buy the connectors for the factory plugs so I removed them from the old speakers and soldered them to the new speakers. I can still put the factory speakers back in if I decide to buy another truck.

Installing the speakers behind the seat was very easy, no mods necessary. Installing them in the front door wasn't bad but I did have to do some cutting, the larger magnet on the new speakers were hitting the mount for the window track. Took out the dremel and did some trimming

Once I got them to fit only two mounting screws would line up, same story in the rear.

The rear

They sound good for 6x9's with no amp pushing them, a lot better than stock. When I put some power behind them I really find out how they sound.

I finish installing the head until this morning and it's sweet, nice clear tunes and easy to use! Paired up with my iPhone 5 with no problem, bluetooth works great for phone use and music havent tried anything else with it. The two usb plugs are nice, one for a flash drive with music and pics and another for the phone. I like that I can change screen by swiping the screen just like you do on a smartphone and it has shortcut button that will give quick access to four options of your choice. I played with the options in the Nav and everything is just easy to use. The fit is ok but could be better, the kit has rounded front edge that doesn't really follow the dash or the deck's face but it will have to do.

I used the Nav today just to get a feel for it and it's super easy to use and has a ton of options. I think I rather this one over the 8.4an that was in the 14 Grand Cherokee! Anyone looking for an aftermarket head unit this is one to consider, and for only $515.00 off of Amazon!

I finally bought an amp and a sub, should be installed tomorrow. I'm not sure about the truck box, it's pretty small but it is ported.

It sound pretty good, but like I suspected the truck box is too small. Looks like it's time to dust off the carpentry skillz

Looks really good man! I really like the looks of the Clarion HU. Did your truck have factory steering wheel controls, uConnect and Bluetooth? If so, did the Clarion integrate well?

looks great bro!!!
my 99 ram only has a single din connector,so I got a JVC high def radio w/6X9 nertz speakers in my front doors and 5X4 nertz boosted bass speakers in my suicide doors, and new wiring harnesses thruout.
I do have Bluetooth and satellite radio with this upgrade also

My truck did not come with steering wheel controls, uconnect or bluetooth so can't comment on how well it would work. This HU did pair up with my iphone5 with no problems, all functions work great...I really like being able to use the phone hands free without needing an ear piece.
