Default Painting Headlights and concerns

I see many are painting the reflective area of their headlights. While it looks really nice, doesn't this cut down on the brightness of the lights. Lets face it, the newer ram models with halogens are dim to begin with and I thought the chrome reflector was there for a purpose.
Thanks

Lots of the people, including myself, that are painting the bezels are switching over to a projector style headlight which uses the same of design as movie projectors or the ones your teachers used in school that shine the light through a concave lens to produce your beam. This makes the headlight bezel useless allowing you to paint it and have no adverse effect.

If you are just using a stock halogen bulb with the chrome reflective bezel then yes painting the inside of the light will drastically decrease the output to a point it become unsafe

You should only paint the reflector if you're switching to a projector type setup, the only time this would be alright is if it was for a turn signal and you used a LED bulb with better forward output.

^ These two have answered it perfectly. I have the inside of my bezel still stock, but the outside (all the extra chrome) is painted black. I also have HID headlights, so it didn't effect the brightness at all.

Thanks guys,
I guess I have to learn the difference between bezel, reflector and the other term was outside chrome which threw me for a loop.

I am not the best person with words/terms, so sometimes I just make words work with what I try to say.
As you can see with mine, all of the extra chrome is painted black. Also the amber reflector marker on the side is blacked out. I have HID headlights and led turn signal, so light is not an issue.
