Default Help Me Order My New Ram!

I'm about to order a 1500 Limited, and will ultimately (or initially?) want to get bigger tires.

Nothing crazy, just something a bit more aggressive and suitable for highway driving.

35's would be the max.

Should I just do this myself at some point in the future, or should I order some (or all) components from the dealer with the new car order?

I assume I should avoid the air suspension?

Hi,

I think it would be better to get to know your truck in it's stock configuration. No rush. Once you get a feel for it then reassess your desire for a level/lift/tires/wheels.

That's probably the most wise advice I could ever hope to get on an off-road lifted truck forum, problem is, life is short and I just do not have much free time.

It would also be nice to have these upgrades warrantied by the dealer, as I know if I do them later I will be asking for trouble with any warranty work.

I may end up taking your advice, but man your rig is very close to what I am looking for, only it will be in black with smaller tires (perhaps 295/65/20).

The Fuel rims, Pro Comp tires, Fox suspension, are about perfect.

Can you provide an idea of cost on those upgrades?

Thanks!

I got 5 wheels/tires = $5000
Lift installed = $5000

Performance mods another $5000

I would have done the BDS suspension install at the dealer but he'd butchered another guys truck and the truck sat at the dealer for 10 MONTHS, so I went elsewhere.

ASK your dealer IF they have installed precisely which suspension you decide on before proceeding.

Thanks, if I were to go your route, with Fox components but with smaller 295/65/20 (which I believe are about 34.5 tall), in a Ram with stock coil suspension on all 4 corners, which suspension components would I need out of what you have used.

Do you think I could eliminate the BDS 6" suspension lift and just get away with the Fox 2.5 coil over front and Fox 2.0 rear?

Yeah you'll definitely not want the BDS performance kit then. I'd head over to our 'Leveling' sub-forum and check out what they're doing. Fox will likely have something for what you're looking for but their are other resources as well.

You're making a smart move by focusing on quality. Great place to start from!

sounds like you may want to level, not lift.

Not really sure, I would like to use at least 295/65/20's, but don't want the wells to look stuffed.

I can't seem to find any pics of a leveled Ram with 295/65/20's, so not even sure if they will fit without a small/moderate lift.

I definitely do not like the "stuffed" look.

I've always liked the looks of a straight 4" lift with 35" tires. Has a nice balanced look. Lifts the front up 4" or a bit less and the rear approx. 1-1.5". These trucks are big so that setup looks fairly 'normal' but also a bit beefy. It's the way they should have left the factory in my opinion.
