Default Tuner, Do i need one?

Im new to tuners. I currenyl have a 2103 hemi with 33x12.5x20 kuhmo MTs.
i dont plan on changing any engine parts, only thing maybe a CAI and muffler, would getting a tuner with just these mods benefit? I wouldnt mind seeing some power increase and overall improvements. So is the tuner right for me? if i get it and run these different tunes, do i have to change the gas im using.

will it help my MPG if i drive it normally with a tune installed?

it depends on what you want to do. there are 2 different options you can go with.

1) you can get a canned style type of tuner (bullydog, superchips, ect.) which will offer basic tuning on different octanes of gas. for example you can run regular gas on all the tuners or program it for a higher octane like 91.

with these tuners you will notice a pretty good increase in performance but work really well for gas mileage. I went from 15/16 mpg to 19/20 hwy miles.

2) you can get something like the diablo tuner which offers custom tuning but also offers regular canned tunes.

I cant speak 100% on this because I don't personally own one but with a custom tune you will notice a better increase in performance and im not sure about MPG's.

You can run whatever octane you want on all these tuners its your choice what you set the tune to. IMO since your not doing a lot of mods to your truck you would be best going with a canned tuner like superchips or bullydog. remember though that's just my opinion and someone elses might be different.

Hope this helps

I have the diablosport trinity and love it. I recalibrated my speedo due to the 35's, i increased my throttle boost, and run the 91 octane canned tune, and i LOVE IT. AND its better on gas. MUCH better. This is a combination of the efficiency of the tune and the recal of the speedo.

I personally think its worth the money in gas savings alone. Not to mention that you grin like a little boy on christmas morning when you stomp the gas.

Don't do it, because then you'll never want to drive your truck stock again! Custom tunes are evil!!!

Wonder if I'll ever notice any MPG increase? I've been too busy stomping on the gas everywhere I go. It's a great feeling to fall in love with your truck all over again!
