Click on the link and choose your preferred download location on your PC.

Once the download completes, double-click and extract the file straight to the USB drive.

Ensure the USB drive has nothing else on it.

Go to your truck, insert the USB stick in the appropriate hole and then turn your engine on.

Update will begin.

PS - The CRTC has nothing to do with actual hardware/software for communications
Yes I already checked it out hence posting the question, in reference to the crtc the dealer said that the uconnect custom text voice command does not work in canada because of the crtc, and the only option that is available is the choose from list as well the apps button is not available in canada.
Thanks for the reply as I have been waiting for this

is there a file name rewrite that needs to occur for this direct download link?
It is not being recognized by my uconnect system. I have also not been successful in getting the Akami downloader to work. Why does Chrysler make this simple concept so difficult?

You need do nothing except download file, extract that file to a USB drive (ensure formatted for Fat32), then stick it in the USB port of your truck.

No rename or it'll fail.

Beforehand ensure your engine and radio are off...let the USB drive be detected on first boot when you power on engine. May take a few seconds.

cheers

Same here Wartone I gave up on the chrysler site and even called them and they referred me to canada chrysler followed the directions on how to install update however it says please connect usb device.

it may be a variety of things included that certain usb thumb drives are not supported or the formatting is specific to reading the file not sure yet as there seems to be no real explainations on how to do it.
I used the following video altho i have a 2014 and an 8.4AN radio.

Thanks again stuabroad! just seen your post

I don't know about the Akami downloader, but i once had to install another downloader or Reader & i couldn't get it to install on my computer
I found that i had to change my Security settings to LOW, then download the file, then reset my Security setting back to the Higher setting again.

I did it so that i could read the 2009 Dodge Ram Shop Repair Manual CD

Make sure you guys are EXTRACTING the file you download FIRST - it's compressed. After you download you need to unzip it.

As far as i can see that's the only reason which would stop the file being detected...if it wasn't unzipped to the USB drive...

the file downloads as UCONNECT® 8.4AN_RA4 (14.05.03) and it required a .zip on the end to be added then it uncompressed fine to the usb stick. Should look like this: UCONNECT® 8.4AN_RA4 (14.05.03).zip

Update the firmare no problem however no real differences and the App button still missing i was hoping to get the apps button as the advantage of that is voice command custom text which you need to subscribe to at uconnect using the Apps button as well appears to require an online account which i tried to do but there is no area for Canada. Does anyone in Canada have an Apps button?
A huge thank you to stuabroad for his help thanks mike

Correct in that the APPS button is not available in Canada, however your dealer is just trying to divert the blame from Chrysler to the CRTC.

The file link that Stuabroad provided is the finished file, there is nothing to extract, just copy it over to a USB thumb drive, ensuring that the drive is at least 4 Gb, has nothing else on it and is Fat32.

If you manage to get the file from Chrysler then you have to extract the file, this is done via the Akamai downloader, which in itself is difficult to work with.
