Angry 98 Ram 1500 5.9L Electrical Nightmare

So I recently did a tune-up, replacing distributor, rotor, plugs and wires, and eventually the coil, ASD relay and crank sensor. Finally got the truck running again after 5 days of beating my head - turns out replacement distributor caps are rotated 180 degrees from OEM. Truck was running great. Then this weekend I was driving it when it just shut off. A guy stopped and pulled me off the road and was looking at it with me. I told him how I had just replaced the ignition system and he said it sounded like the ECM or PCM in this case. So I had it towed, verified there was no spark, and disconnected the battery touched the positive and negative wires together and let it sit disconnected for about 15 minutes. Reconnected the battery and it fired right up. Today I was sitting in my truck with it running for about 10-15 minutes and it just shut off again. This time luckily it fired right back up. Tonight I went to pull it out of the garage to wash it and it cranked but wouldn't start. I tried the trick that worked the last time by disconnecting the battery and touching the wires together and letting it sit at least 15 minutes but it still won't start. I tried this twice and no change. I am thinking I need a new PCM but figured I would see if anyone has any other ideas before I drop another $200 into this growing pit of money that the truck has turned out to be.

If it's a bad PCM or dropping the PCM link it will set a code for that. Scan it for codes.

Good advice Saltillo. Scan this thing, and see where we are really at. No BUS, or other communication errors are a sign of a bad ECU.
