Default Aftermarket blend door actuator and other HVAC issues.

First off I want to thank everyone. When I first started having this problem this forum was a ton of help. Now to my problem, I had the notorious blend door actuator go bad. The one right behind the glove box. The OEM part number appears to be AA-113800-3041. I replaced it with a Dorman 604-005. The problem is that when the truck starts and it does the door check when it flips it to cold it does not want to stop. It hits the stop just fine but the motor keeps running and it tires to beat its self to death. It does this a couple of times and then stops and does not work anmore. If I try to move it to hot I get nothing. Did I get the wrong replacement part? Is someting else wrong?

I also noticed before the actuator died my fan felt like it would never really turn off all the way. Even with it in the off position I could still feel a slight breeze from the vents.

I'm also having the recirc door problem. It likes to beat its self to death at startup too.

I bought this truck used just over a year ago and I've had pretty back luck with it lately. I called chrysler customer service and they told me K17 had already been performed on it. I've seem some estimates on the forums of what dealerships like to charge for this kind of stuff. Any ideas? Thanks again for the help so far.

Probably not what you want to hear, but on the 10 I just eliminated the blend door. You don't have to have it.

I have learned my lesson this past winter with using DORMAN products. The actuator was replaced 3 times because they thought each one was bad. I gave up and went to the dealer and paid the extra $25. It works fine now. DORMAN sucks for sure.

It sounds like the unit needs to be reflashed, the K17 recall. K17 was to check the actuators and to reflash the head unit.

I know you said it had already been done, but with what you are describing it sounds like the software is screwed up.

Thanks guys. I'm taking it in next week for the pinion nut recall. I'll see if maybe the dealer won't stick it to me too bad.

I am having this same prob. I am kinda leaning towards the reflash. However, I did notice that my the part i replaced was 604-005 "air door actuator", but i see what looks to be the identical part 604-038 also "air door actuator. Does anyone know the difference between these two parts, all i can find is that 005 says defrost door and 038 talks about recirc door.

Just an update. I took my truck in this week to have the N08 recall done. I told them about the actuator and gave them recall K17. When the called me back they said they would have to take my dash apart to inspect the actuators. If the actuators were the problem they said they would cover it under K17 and if the problem is the blend doors themselves they said it would be around $600 plus parts. I went ahead and rolled the dice. They are going to tear into it tomorrow so I'll update when I find something out.

WOW..OK...on MY 2009 when mine started clicking real bad, the actuators that are the bad ones were in the center of the dash, not behind the glove box, real easy to remove the center section, ac controls stay in the dash, there are 2 actuators back there , the one closest to the left is the one that was clicking on mine, when you buy the new one from dodge it is in the middle of its travel notated by an arrow or point,, i had to put the mode from hot to cold in the middle then remove the actuators power connector, then I installed the new OEM actuator, the system self checked and all is good for 3 years so far..if you are replacing the actuators yourself, it takes about 1 hour at the most , really about 30 minutes to change them out.

Your description sounds like stripped gears in the motor. Thumping for about 10 seconds stops then may do it again.

When it does its test, it will lift the door and if a spot on one of the gears is stripped it falls back down, "thump", then tries again same thing, then eventually it will default stop and may try again in a few seconds.

It is possible to take it apart and move the gears to different positions depending on which one is stripped. I did this to one of mine and it is still working after 4 years.

Since the dealer has it I am sure it will be corrected.

Mine at the same issue with the popping noise behind the glove box. Scared the shit out of me when it first did it.

The the dealer first did a re-program and that fixed for about 6 months. Brought it back and they replaced the actuators.. Been fine so far

Also do you take the dash apart by the steering wheel/ speedo area. Those ass holes didnt put something back right and it rattles like crap right above the speedo on the dash.
