Default Wheel & Tire Question; Searched and can't find the answer...

For some reason or another, the wheel and tire threads become muddied with tech-talk that make it all but impossible to find the answer. So, if I may ask the question directly, I have the following:

2010 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT 4X4
4.7L
Reg cab
Short bed
Totally stock in every way shape and form
No leveling kit
No suspension alterations of any kind
Stock, silver painted 17" alloys

I would like to put 20 X 9" wheels with 275/60/20 tires.

Will they fit without rubbing or any suspension alterations?

Thanks for the help.

Cheers,

Bob

I'm running LT275/60-20 on 20x9 rims.
Came from factory with this size, no suspension mods.
My truck is a 2010 Laramie Crew Cab 4x4 with the hemi engine if that makes any difference.

They will fit. I'm running larger tires than that without issue (Granted I have a leveling kit). Mechanically there is almost zero difference in our trucks, almost all of it is trim level stuff. You'll be fine, but your tire guy should know that already.

They will fit with no mods. The 275/60/20 tires are the most common stock size for Rams, only the lower level Ram or Ram's built to tow will come with the 17's.

I have the same truck, reg cab, short bed, 17"wheels, no mods at all. I was thinking about putting 285/75r17's on it, will they rub at all?

I was looking at the same size, and if there is rubbing, it will be very minimal - so I've been told.

I run 275-75-17 tires in the winter, no rubbing at all on the stock wheels. With 33" tires or less tire rub comes from a really wide tire or wrong offset on aftermarket wheels. If you pass your hand on the top inside of your tires you will notice that there is very little clearance between the tire and strut, thats where I have seen several people have problems. I had several friends that didn't even know it was rubbing there, they just made sure the height clearance was good.

Put this site in your favorites everyone...

http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tirecalc.php

Just enter your current tire size and new size and it will show overviews of both tires as well as differences in diameter etc.

I have a 2010 SLT BigHorn Edition 4 X 4 with stock 275/60/20's, but whoever owned it before me was running street tires on it! I want to put All Terrains on it due to camping at the coast and in the mountains, any ideas as to what would be the best overall tire to go with that will give me good grip and good tread wear? The only mods that have been done is spray in bed liner, flowmaster, tinted windows! I also tow a 26' travel trailer with it that dry weighs around 5800 lbs (this is before my wife fills it to the rim with crap) so far two trips to the mountains and one to the coast with no towing issues at all!

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum. Also had some tire questions, I have a 2010 Dodge Ram Sport with stock 20" rims, I have LT275 65R20 tires on now, prior to installing a leveling kit, these did rub, but I've since installed a 3.5" front, 2" rear leveling kit and they dont scrub at all. Wondering if anyone knew the max size tire I could fit with this configuration? The tires I have on now are ~34" and looks like there is still lots of room. Any recommendations?
