If you can stand it, here's one more post on the subject. It might be one of my last, but that remains to be seen... I picked up the truck last Friday and told them to call me when they get a confirmation from the regional rep. For the past 3 days there has been no problem, everything has been behaving properly.

It may or may not be better. It may decide to mess up again tomorrow, or it may never mess up again, I don't know. I'm thinking that if it behaves from now on, it may be because of the work the tech did on the harnesses. Unplugging, testing, cleaning, re-connecting, perhaps that removed a bit of corrosion, or perhaps a connector may have been a teeny bit loose, but after reconnecting it's tight again; who knows.

Got word that the engineer will be down on Thursday. If it hasn't acted up by that time, it will be the first time that it went almost a week without incident. Should I consider it fixed at that point? Dunno if I want anyone messing with it if it's working, right?

I'm keeping an eye on it, expecting it to act up at any second, it has me constantly on edge!

Default Update

UPDATE (For anyone still interested, LOL): The factory rep came out yesterday and monitored the system's operation, trying to find the fault. Based on his monitoring, he believes the issue is in the wiring between the switch and cluster (this actually agrees with what the tech has been saying all along, he just didn't know where in the wiring the fault was). He's going to discuss his results with his fellow engineers then come back early next week to share his final opinion, and hopefully direct the repair. Looks like this thing may actually be wrapped up soon.

We might hear back from the rep at the end of this week. After that, who knows how long the actual repair (if any) will take. I have a long trip coming up in 2 weeks, I seriously doubt it will be able to drive my own vehicle on this trip. Friggin' frustrated beyond belief.

So my new baby has a quirk... almost 39k on the clock and it seems the transfer case has a mind of its own. I've kept the selector knob in 2WD mode the entire time I've had it (4 days, LOL),

That was two months ago

My patience would have been gone weeks ago - I would have told the dealer to take there truck and

I would assume without reading through every post this is covered under the 5 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty , Correct ???

Lemon Law ???

Attorney ???

Offered you any other options , like a different truck ???

Pretty damn obvious they don't have a clue , seriously two months

Honestly ??? What am I missing here , without sounding like an ass

Pretty straight forward - Dealer doesn't have a choice , but to fix the vehicle

And like I stated earlier , you still have the 5 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty

But it doesn't say how much time they have to fix the problem ??? Well forever I guess , reading that - And what if this issue supposedly gets resolved , but at the expense of something else on the truck - One problem leads to another

I would at least contact an attorney and see what your options are , if any

You got it right, bee. I already looked into that. And it's true that even thought the problem may occur within that 60-day window the repair can take much longer than that technically, although the dealer would be wasting its resources. I was notified by the sales manager that if the factory rep cannot figure it out this time that they would find me another truck.

On a positive note they are pretty certain they found the exact wire that was causing the problem. If it turns out to be true then the saga is over; if not, we'll begin the discussion for replacement.

Thumbs up Fixed?

Well, I've had the truck back for almost a week, and I don't want to jinx anything, but it looks like it's fixed. Problem was determined to be a faulty wire between the switch and the cluster; the factory rep identified & repaired the wire and all is well so far. No mention of whether this was related to the aftermarket remote start the PO had installed & removed prior to trading it in, or just a defect that worked its way loose. The important thing is it's working like it should.
