I tried just about all of them before finally switching to the Ultimate CAI

inter-cooled 500WHP

plus a little Alcohol Injection...(60/40 Water/Meth) to drop intake air charge temps even more

vararam all day long, my reasoning is different than others tho. I was very impressed with how quite the truck ran with it. Personally I am not a huge fan of making the cab volume too loud (unless it is the whine of a supercharger!). I have one for sale as I am in the middle of a RIPP kit install. If you interested PM me, my Vararam has less than 10K miles, looking to get 250 for it.

No. Not 30hp. Someone I know with a L99 Camaro picked up 10rwhp and Moe's reportedly got 16rwhp on a truck that had several mods.

The Vararam is great, but you will be disappointed, I think with the effectiveness of the hood scoop. If you could measure air flow, I think you'll find air actually flows out of the hood scoop. The Ramchargers did a lot of research back in the 50's and 60's and found that you had to be several inches above the hood to get ram air effect. You will get better results, just using the Vararam as designed. I have the "Vararam hemi under glass" on my 05, it is true ram air. Coolness factor, will be great, though!

SO the Vararam will NOT work on a truck that does not have vented hoods?

That is not what Hydrex was trying to say, The vararam was designed, as far as i can tell, to pull the air that comes through the grille at the speed you are driving, and push it into the big filter element on top of the engine.

What hyrex was trying to say, correct me if im wrong, is that where the hood and grille meet causes turbulent air flow which is making the area on top of the hood a low pressure system. basically right on top of the hood is a pillow of air that is creating a nice transition for the air coming into the truck to change direction and go over the cab, inturn this makes the the scoops that sit right on the hood useless for a "Ram Air" application because instead of forcing air into them the are sucking the air out of the engine compartment. Making them more of a cooling vent than a ram air vent
