They can claim that in lab rat engineering data when subtracting just from body and frame alone...it might even be true....BUT NONE of that translates into real world numbers on trucks that are fully built up. That WHY Ford claims UP TO 700 lbs. They WILL NOT reach that mark for the high end trim levels. They will be slightly better on mid level trims. I'm not saying the new Fords wont be lighter, sure they will but when you start throwing all the bells and whistles, sunroofs, cameras, sensors, etc, etc, etc on a fully built truck, they are gonna add up and start eating into that weight savings from the frame and body. So yeah its still just marketing BS.
We'll find out soon enough when they are put on the scales and compared to the 2014 equivalents. You know every truck magazine will be throwing them on scales as soon as they get their hands on them.
