... paying a lot of money out of their pocket to fix their car.
Was driving up a street in my 'hood when my dash cam catches the following:
The quality of video from PhotoBucket sucks... But you should get the idea.
So I turned around and the guy in the white GMC left. So I went home, burned the video to disc and when to the house that the car was parked outside. It was the owner, so I told her what I saw and gave her the disc and my info. There were two guys sitting in a dump truck across the street where they're working on paving a driveway. The woman asks them if they know who drives the white truck that hit her car because she was sure the guy worked with them. The two guys at first feign ignorance as to who was driving the truck. Then when I describe the truck and that we have video of it, one of the guy says that the truck didn't hit the car because there was no damage to the truck. So the woman goes back into her house and I leave.
So I'm heading into Costco when as I am driving, I happen to see the GMC at a gas station. I pull in and whip out my camera which I capture him wiping down the side of his truck. I also capture his license plate.
(Sorry for the sideways video... I can't figure out how to rotate video in my video editor - need a better one.)
Feeling a little vindicated that I can provide even better information to the cops if necessary, I continue in to Costco.
While I am at the checkout, my phone rings. I figure it's the cops. Nope, it's the husband of the wife of the car.
He proceeds to tell me that one of the guys in the dump truck went to the house to get their phone number so the owner of the white truck could call them. Obviously as soon as the guys heard we had video, they called their boss (the driver of the truck) told him we have video... and he decided to make right.
He called the owners and offered to pay to have everything fixed to make it right. He provided them with his insurance and contact information.
So I just saved those poor people a huge bill.
Here is a pic of the damage to their car:
