Default help a newbie!

Hello everyone. I'm new on here and have been reading all morning. Not sure if I'm more knowledgeable now or more confused - LOL.
I have an 06 1500 regular cab short bed with a 5.7 and a 3:92 rear end. I put a K&N CAI on and now I'm looking for some real performance. What are my best options and what do you guys recommend. I'm looking at real duel exhaust, maybe a cam, and a programmer. I'm need some info from people that know mopar so I came here..... The guys at the performance shop just want to sell me whatever they like and every sales guy I talk to has a different opinion.

any and all help is appreciated.

Dual exhaust is the way to go. I love my Flowmaster. Every V8 I own (3) has them. Magnaflow, Borla, the list is long pick one that fits your tastes. As far as tuners go I hear great things from Hemifever. I plan on ordering one for my truck A couple weeks before I get back from this tour. Youre off to a great start. do your research and alaways remember you get what you pay for.

Welcome!
A lot of us like to know the budget. If your looking at a cam, you also need to look into pushrods, springs, and tune. My first purchase for the Ram was a diablo tuner. Worth every penny.

Thanks guys. This seems like a great forum. YES - exhaust and possibly headers to start for sure. Budget is about $2000 but you know how that goes - lol Maybe $3000 if I have no self control..I'm really wanting to know what's the best bang for the buck and what brands works the best. I see a lot about diablo& superchip, I'm also looking into a sharadon stage 2 or 3 valve body. I wont be installing most of this stuff so labor cost needs to be a factor also. I got a price on exhaust without headers for $700 installed....so what does everyone think I should invest the rest in that would give me the most bang for my money?

get a diablo since you wanna cam up..for performance exhaust, look at a straight thru muffler like a magnaflow, don't do flowmasters, it's a sound mod and performs the least out of all the aftermarket mufflers. is your truck an rc or qc? that helps in figuring out what cam to use. What wheel/tire combo size do you have?. For true duals, don't forget an H or X pipe..

Welcome to the forum, lots of great info here. Are you running factory tires? If u plan on running 35" or bigger I would go to 4.56 gears.

if you stay with stock height tires (about 32"-33"), the 3.92's should be just fine. Go with a diablo tuner because you can always get a custom tune down the road with it. Look for headers, straight thru mufflers and see how you like it at this point.. you can always do the smaller mods which do add up and contribute to overall performance like an e-fan and 180 tstat and crank pulley. If wanting more then cam up at this point...

gotcha, its a RC short bed. The diablo and exhaust is definitely my first purchases. I'm thinking cam is almost a must. seems very beneficial for the money.Just need to know which one specifically.
As for the diablo - it seems like it might be more advanced as me - LOL. so I might be a little technically challenged, but it seems like it's the one I should get.
For exhaust he's installing true duals with magnaflows with high flow cats. I'm still reading about headers.
