Cool I didn't know that the speed sensor wasn't affected by the gears. I know on my Ford I had to change the speedometer tooth gear when I swapped to a higher rear gear ratio.

So did you order the gears and the anti-spin diff lock? Or did you buy a full rear axle assembly? I have the anti-spin diff from when I ordered my truck so hopefully I will be able to change the gear ratio and re-install the anti-spin setup. I wish now I would have ordered my truck with 3.92's instead of 3.55's but I was thinking about highway driving and gas mileage so I compromised.

I ordered differential and gears only, not the entire axel assembly. Im glad you asked that question because after looking up the part number’s its not a true posie rear end, its LSD. Not real happy about that at the moment considering I went to the dealership and told them specifically what I wanted and already paid for the parts. I guess the question is how much slip does the LDS allow before the left tire kicks in?

My effective gear ratio is about 4.25:1

33/27.5 = 1.2 x 3.55 = 4.26:1

...all together = about 5 tenths (a half second) quicker over a quarter mile.
Could you explain the equation in more detail for me Please?
Is it tire height divided by ? = 1.3 X the rear ratio = calculated rear ratio?

I've heard that you can't change out the rear gears on a newer style ram. Is that true or are the people telling me this dumb? I have a 2014 ram btw.

He's saying that when he switches his 33" tires for his 27.5" track tires it's the equivalent of changing the rear gears from 3.55s to 4.26s.

I have a 2013 and am changing the differential and gears at the same time. If you have the 8 speed tranny and 3:92's in your 14 I would stick with that. It's a really good combo.

I understand the concept but i was trying to figure out my new tires with the 3:55 gears. I have 305/50R20?

Your new tire size is only 3.1% shorter compared to the stock 275/60-20 tire which equates to a 3.66 effective gear ratio

When I'm at the track and in the burnout box, my truck spins both tires when I hold the brakes and give it gas.

I hate to ask but I'm new to all this. Could you give me the detailed Mathematical equation as how you calculated that??
Please!!
