Default Strange Tire Wear and Road Noise

Hey guys, I have a quick question. I noticed the other day that my tires are chopped a bit. Rather than being smooth when you run your hand along them, they are rough. I also noticed an odd road noise. Although hard to replicate in text, it goes something like

"wah, wah, wah, wah" down the road with the speed of the noise being proportional to how fast I'm driving. It isn't a metal on metal sound or anything like that. It sounds like tire on pavement, but somebody said it could be a wheel bearing.

What would cause the strange tire wear? Could it be the wheel bearing? Or, could it be something to do with the balance/alignment of the front end? Anybody experience this?

What HunterGreen said. You may have loss your wheel weights. Is it just one tire or more? If so I would definitely check alignment

I have the same issue. Just got back from a 3 week job and truck on the highway at 70-76 has a horrible steering shudder. Took it in for an alignment and manager of shop basically said sorry but I wont waist your money by attempting to fix what cant be fixed since all points were within spec. Said tires are horribly cupped. All four. I am second owner as of February, so he said the 1st owner did do rotations but drove like a drunk maybe? Said go get new tires and we'll get it aligned properly.

Mine is doing the noise too. Front is good just the good years are about done. I keep the air pressure at 36 cold but the roads here in Hawaii eat the up like the Michelin commercial. It's not too bad so look at getting new ones later this year.

Thanks everybody for the replies. Glad I'm not the only person with the problem. I plan on taking the truck to the tire shop later this week. Hopefully they'll have a suggestion. As far as tire pressure, I have always maintained the pressure where it should be, so I don't think that would be the problem. If it isn't alignment, the only other thing I can think of is that maybe it is a problem with the tires themselves?

The front tires on mine wore the same and made the same noise. After the alignment it seems to be good.

Here is a quick visual starter for basic diagnosis.

Scalloped or "feathering" extending beyond the outer row of tres can also be an indicator of worn shocks.

Just a quick question, do you pull a trailer often? It's a long shot, but if you do and the trailers cargo isn't balanced it can be enough to throw out the trucks balance and cause weird road wear... Just thought I'd throw that out there, I had this issue on my old truck.
