Default Pro Comp 2" Leveling Kit

I recently started the install of a ProComp 2" Leveling Kit. Honestly it hasn't been bad with some patience, pb spray, and a some muscle to knock the rust off. However, I destroyed my upper ball joint with a pickle fork trying to separate the knuckle. Since i had to replace it i decided to go with a Moog Upper Ball Joint. I was suspicious when i compared the old and the knew. Every where i look it appears this Moog they sold me is the correct ball joint for my upper control arm. It is shorter and doesn't pivot as far as the one i took out.
So now when i jack up the lower arm, thus compressing the new lengthened spring, the new ball joint will not reach through the knuckle to start the nut. Do i replace the ball joint again or is there another trick that i should try? I have tried compressing the spring already. Will adjusting the camber help?

Once the LCA is jacked up compressing the strut, try pulling down on the UCA bringing the ball joint closer to the steering knuckle. You can also loosen the UCA bolts to allow more movement but really shouldn't be necessary.

Thanks for the quick response Boosted. I tried pushing down on the upper control arm and even tried clamping it to the knuckle to push the bolt through. As the uca swings down the alignment gets worse.

i finally got the ball joint on the knuckle. however it required jacking it way up and compressing the springs. the ball joint is a moog k7460. here is the problem. after the jack is let down and spring compressor loosened, the pressure on the ball joint doesn't let the knuckle turn. not to mention the compressor is stuck in the spring because it is tighter now.

I see a couple of potential issues....

1 - Why is there a spring compressor stuck? You shouldn't need one. Simply jack the LCA up until the spring compresses and the steering knuckle gets closer to the upper ball joint.

2 - Excessive angles? What type of lift do you have? Are you sure it is a 2" lift? Does it go on top of the strut (spacer style) or does it go on top of the spring (preload style)?

Can you post a picture of your suspension?

my mistake, it is a procomp 2.5" 61170 spacer style. the compressor was needed because jacking up wasn't compressing it enough to reach. it seams as though when the uca swings down it pushes the ball joint out of its angle. it will never be in that position unless off the ground, but just doesn't seem right. do i replace the ball joint, uca and ball joint or maybe an alignment will correct this? i will try to figure out how to add pictures.

An alignment will correct some of it but if its that far off, then there is something else going on. Also, jacking the LCA to the point just before the truck gets picked up off the jack stand is pretty darn close to where it would be when the truck is on the ground sitting on the tires. If that is not enough, then there is something wrong.

First off, what year is your truck? Do you have any pictures of the suspension?

I uploaded some pictures.

Notice the difference in the ball joints.

The ball joints do look different but that does not mean its the wrong one. First thing I would do is reverse whatever you did and get that coil spring compressor out of there. Then use a floor jack to jack up the LCA compressing the spring to the point just before the truck is lifted off of the jack stand. This should be more than enough to get the ball joint into the steering knuckle. Next, torque down the nut on the ball joint to spec and install the cotter pin. Once that is done, then lower the jack. As soon as you get it all back together, get an alignment asap.
