Default Outdoorsman Grill to Laramie Grill

I'm waiting on a 2014 1500 Outdoorsman that I ordered, and I'd like to explore the idea of changing the painted grill (w/ black honeycomb) to the Laramie chrome grill with chrome (foil?) inserts (see image.) Is that doable and if so, what parts do I need to order?

I haven't decided, but I may want to keep my black inserts and just get the chrome surround. I'd like to know what I need and the cost both ways.

VIN: 1C6RR7LT7ES371431

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,

For Option one you can simply add the Laramie inserts to your grille with these http://moparonlineparts.com/1500-grille-p-4230.html

For option two the cheapest Grill with a Chrome surround is as follows:
GRILLE-RADIATOR
Make: Dodge | Part#: 68093446AC
List Price: $404.00
Your Price: $278.30
This grille has honeycomb inserts

Please let me know if you have any questions,
-Benny

Benny, thank you for the quick response. However, for option one I also need the chrome surround (the Outdoorsman is a painted surround.) Would I have to buy the surround of option two plus the chrome inserts, or is there a complete Laramie grill available?

Thanks,
Jim

No problem Jim, For a full chrome Laramie grille with surround were looking at the following:

Your Price: $304.75

Please note does NOT include the Rams head medallion
MEDALLION-RAM HEAD

Perfect! Pretty reasonable price, too -- I can't wait to get my truck and do this upgrade!

Thanks again,
Jim

I have my truck now and am trying to decide between the Laramie grille (which you quoted on an earlier post) and the chrome mesh, which I believe is standard on the Longhorn (shown below.)

Is 68148231AC the correct P/N @ $445.05?

BTW, I swear this mesh grille used to come on the Limited, but ramtrucks.com now shows the Limited with the regular Laramie grille. Did that change recently?

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,

Personally I prefer the Laramie grille as the mesh appears a bit too busy. Your part number is correct.

Have you thought about leaving your painted surround and just swapping inserts?

I partly want a chrome surround because we've got a lot of construction going on around here and I know my front end is going to get chipped up. I'm doing the clear bra film on the front of the hood and the painted upper bumper. Adding it to my painted surround is half the cost of a full chrome grill, which I prefer the looks of anyhow.

Another plus if I get the chrome surround is I can switch it up from time to time. At times I might go with chrome surround and black honeycomb; other times painted with the mesh. It only takes about 15 minutes to switch them out.

But which to get is a tough decision, especially since the prices vary so much. I do really like the mesh best, however I have never seen it on my color truck.

Anyway, thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

Jim
