GA RAM is on a distinguished road
Default 2002 1500 ac issues

My '02 ac unit only blows on high, and recently stopped blowing from the vents at chest level. Additionally it doesn't blow cold air, is there a way to fix this issue other than just recharging the freon? I am driving across the country next week so I'm hoping to not have the windows down the whole way

Howdy, Daniel, and welcome to the Ram Forum Z. I invite you to stop by the Newbie Check In section and introduce yourself so other members can give you a proper howdoyado.

Sounds like you've got a couple different issues.
1) The resistor on your blower motor is bad and will need to be replaced. Fairly cheap and really easy to do. It's located right next to your blower motor which is on the passenger side of the dash.

B) The motor on your vent selector is bad or the gears on the door have broke not allowing the vent door to redirect flow to where you call for it.

Lastly) No cold air could be caused by several different issues. Low on freon. Too much freon. Bad compressor. Bad expansion valve. Clogged condenser. Blend door is stuck. And the list goes on. You'll need to do some further testing to find out why there is no cold air coming out.
