Bought my 2012 Express used with 13000 miles on it and noticed AC wasn’t blowing very cold. Took it back to dealer and they said it was a little low on freon so they recharged and added dye to check for leaks but didn’t find any. Now a couple of months later it’s blowing warmer again. I will be taking it back to the dealer and hopefully with the dye added they will find the leak and this problem will end. So far this has been covered under warranty.

No issues with my 2012 A/C, but it only has 27K miles. Although I do notice a lot of "condensation" dripping under the truck near the passenger side firewall. I say a lot because I was surprised at the small stream that had formed while we sat in the parking lot the other day.

Default Found the leak!

I've got almost 60k miles on my truck. warranty was out at 36,000. except the powertrain covers all the way too 100k.

Anyway... I found the leak. A weld on the factory AC condenser is broken and leaking all of the fluid out. Nothing ever hit it, just looks like the factory piece failed (of course). A new AC condenser from Chrysler is $600 which the parts guy knew off the top of his head because he's had to order so many of them recently. I found the part from Rockauto.com so I ordered it myself. They called the next day saying it was out of stock. Started searching again and found that autopartswarehouse.com had a few in stock. KOOL-VUE part#: KVAC3878 which claims to be a direct fit for a '12 ram 1500 5.7L. Needless to say I received the part excited to put it in and it doesn't fit. The transmission cooler lines do not adapt to the aftermarket cooler which on the box is stamped for a 09-10 ram 1500...

Anyway I've talked to autopartswarehouse and they are accepting the return but not sure where I'm going to go from here. Can't seem to find any place that I'm confident in having the right part other than the dealer. Id really like to not have to spend 600 buck on a friggin' AC condenser but I guess that's what I get for buying this damn Dodge. About ready to set this thing on fire. I've attached some pictures for everyone to see what I'm talking about for if/when this happens to your truck. Glad I could be the guinea pig

I'll keep everyone posted on what I find out.

Ok, first of all, nothing said in this thread makes sense. Everyone is missing the obvious which is that the there was something wrong on the passenger side prior to this happening. If the Condenser Fan is coming on and the Compressor clutch is engaging when the system is on then I would check to see if it has a problem with the blend door motor or the actual blend door. The motors do fail periodically and the door breaking is almost common enough to be considered a pattern failure.

SWEET! That's how you fix a problem! My wife wouldn't agree, but I think rule # 27 in the man book states that if you can't fix it, replace it. Nice job! Now give a peek and the new beast because you've been here long enough to know that

You can jump out the low pressure switch and see if compressor clutch engages. If it does the system is definitely low on charge. If not its a control circuit locking it out. Do you have any SES light illuminated?

Do you have any SES light illuminated? Low pressure switch should be in larger ac line on or by accumulator close to evaporator outlet under hood.
