^^^^ Great advice right there, Enjoy the ride.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Yeah I need to just enjoy it!

If I'm not too tired tomorrow night from the 600 mile drive, I'll post some pictures.

If its a long drive i would open the throttle fully for about 10 miles on and off for a few seconds. I would put it in cruise on 65 for awhile, then change to 75 for awhile then 80. Dont worry about messing the engine up, you wont. Treat it like you want it to work for the life of the truck.

IMO, motors don't need break-in anymore, see it more as a trans break-in, varying speeds and gears help your trans getting smoother

The techno-babble of it is, metallurgical casting, metals selection, modern machining, quality control etc etc - is so well understood these day, that you'd actually have to start RED LINING the engine from day one to destroy it.

Other than some traffic through Atlanta, a thunderstorm, and 10 minutes of my initial attempt to vary the speed, I drove around 80 all the way home.

Love the truck.

After dropping over 40,000 hard earned dollars on my truck, for the first 300 miles I'm willing to follow the few simple break-in instructions that are provided in the owners manual. IMO, all the advice to the contrary given here is worth roughly what it cost me.

Get a diesel. Somewhere in the manual is reads " There is no break in. Just Drive the dang thing!"

I may be paraphrasing a bit. lol.
