Default Flame Red....Why not more popular?

I placed my order one week ago for a Laramie CC 4x4 EcoDiesel. I have to say that choosing a color is very difficult for me. For one, most of the colors look great to me on this truck. I rule out the darker ones because of how much they show dust, spots, and swirls even though they look awesome when clean. I don't have time to wash and wax often. For me, it was between white, flame red, and silver. They are pretty easy to not show dirt, etc. as bad.

White is a sharp truck for sure but perhaps a bit common and will show tar, fly specks and road film. Still, not a bad one for keeping clean.

I have had silver for over three years now and it's great. Looks good all the time. Looks nice with chrome. Just wasn't sure I wanted it again. Silver is a bit common on the road though and not a stand out color.

Flame red looks great to me and looks great with chrome. Almost went this route but my car is red and I've had two red trucks already and my Dad has red trucks.

I like colors/combinations, etc. that not everyone has but I also keep in mind resale value later on. Western Brown is a good looking choice for sure and I have never seen one locally so it's certainly not common but it is dark.

Flame red doesn't show too well in the polls. Why is that? Just too flashy and common on the road?

I ordered silver.

I agree with every color looks good on our trucks. When I was looking at RAMs about in 2011, I was looking at the blue they had at that time and silver and ended up with flame red. I can't complain about it, even when it's dirty (3-4 months at least) I always have people telling me how good it looks and ask if I clean it every weekend. I wish that was the case but it's not, and they never believe me. When it does get cleaned it does look good though.

Yep. Red is awesome. I've never regretted red on any of the ones I've had. That's what made it a difficult choice. I've never regretted my silver either. I guess I just want one of each color but can only have one!

I guess for me, a truck is so big that all that red overwhelms me. I like the deep cherry color, its toned down somewhat from the flame red.

I like my cars to be kinda "in your face", and few colors are as "in your face" as flame red. IMO it's not common at all, unlike silver or white or black. It's even more rare in the Laramie trim, which is why I had to order one in that color.

Default Depends on where you live

I am baffled HOW people can buy black trucks (or cars) if you live where it's hot. The interior is an oven in the summer.
Dodge and Chevy's have the nicest color selections.
Red will oxidize to pink, so you should wax it - but life is busy as the OP mentioned.

When I bought mine new back in April of 13, My color choices were limited because I wanted a Quad cab Pentastar with the 8 speed trans, that was hard to come by at the time. I ended up with Silver and can't complain. My last Ram was silver as well. My only complaint is that I've had a Silver Ram for over 10 years now...lol

I was looking to go with Red or Blue but couldn't find any and wasn't interested in ordering one.

Silver for the most part always looks clean, probably the easiest of all the colors to keep it looking clean.

Well....

If you want a red truck, and you see the Cherry metallic.... you will go that way over the flame red.

That's what I did. I was concerned that the flame red would fade out and get dull in the Florida sun although I do keep this one in the garage when I'm not driving it.

There's a reason Dodge puts Flame Red truck in advertisements ! Red sells. I'm on my third Flame Red 1500, 05, 2011, & 2014.
